we've been trying for quite awhile, i decided it was time to rule out thyroid issues. i dont have symptoms, but i had it tested anyway.

my TSH is 2.53 which from everything i read is normal. but now after looking around on the net, i see it should be between 1-2 for TTC.

i'm cycling regularly, but i'm pretty sure i'm not ovulating.

penny for your thoughts? :)

A TSH level between 1-3 is considered normal. I tested 6 1/2 weeks ago and had a level of 7.85. I take 25 mg of synthroid now and I had another test earlier this week. My TSH is down to 3.24 which the doctor told me was normal. (an awesome side effect is now I ovulated 3 days earlier this cycle and I am now 2 DPO) I wouldn't be concerned with a TSH of 2.53.

Good Luck! :)

It should be fine. I notice that I feel better if my tsh is around 1-2ish. I start to feel off at 3. Just pay attention to your cycles. If they get wacky, check it again. You can always have to checked in early pregnancy too.

I had mine checked in Nov before starting ttc as i was having very irregular cycles and wasnt sure if I was ovulating. It was 4.5 and she just wanted to watch it and come back in Jan to have it checked again. It was 3.7 and the same day I had my progesterone checked which was 11 (you want it to be greater than 10), so that proved that I ovulated. And my dr wasnt worried about that level, so I think you should be fine!! But if you're still worried, I would maybe recommend getting it rechecked in about 2 months to see if it goes down, and you could also get your progesterone checked that same day to know for sure if you ov.

Ideally, you want to get your prog checked 1 week after you ov, but obviously, if you're not sure if you do ov., the easiest thing to do is to go on day 21 of your cycle (if you have a regular 28-day cycle) or 1 week before you are supposed to start your period. You can even go on day 25 if your cycles are little bit longer. I think I went on day 28 bc my cycles are longer.
It gave me a lot more piece of mind since that month was the first month ttc.
This may be more info than you were looking for, but I hope it helped. Good luck to you!!

oh, and i think that TSH level (1-2) for ttc is for people who have hypothyroidism and are currently taking medication for it.

I am new to all this thyroid stuff also. Just had mine checked and will find out results Monday.

different laboratories view tsh levels differently. My level is 2.9 and my dr said it was a little high, another lady spoke to told me her levels were higher and she was considered fine. Anyways, my RE told me to use opks which i did and got my smiley face for 2 days and im temping too and Fertility friend detected ovulation. So i guess i can assume i ovulated. your number is even lower than mine. Buy some opks and temp.
