I posted this in the first trimester and did get a reply but thought I may get more responses in this section. My doctor called me this morning and said that she wants me to see a high risk dr. as well because my thyroid antibodies is high. I have been on Synthroid since August. My initial TSH was 3.5 (normal but high for fertility). A month after starting the medicine, my TSH was down to 0.9 and I got pregnant the next month. They also tested my antibodies with that blood work and it showed high numbers. My dr. retested at my 10 week appointment and said my TSH was fine but my antibodies were still high. She believes my medicine is working and doesn't nee adjustment but she wanted to get a second opinion. Basically, my question is: Since I have made it to almost 13 weeks and my TSH is normal, what risks am I looking at with a normal TSH?

And we have had 3 ultrasounds that were all normal. One at 6+4 HR was 123, 10+2 (baby measured 10+3) HR was 161, and 12+2 (baby measured 12+4) HR was 165.

I have an under active thyroid and take medications. There is no risks if your tsh is normal besides your baby starts producing his own thyroid hormone after 12 weeks so baby Won't be affected. Your doctors will monitor and adjust ur meds as needed.

You're completely fine as you're on thyroxine.
I've been hypothyroid for over 10 years but
My TSH was 8 and I got pregnant and have been fine. My TSH is now much lower which is good but the main thing is that your free thyroxine is within normal range, which is should be if you're on medication.

TSH is just how hard your thyroid is working, but free thyroxine (t4) is what baby takes and yourself too. Abnormal TSH can sometimes mean varied absorption of what you're taking I think

When you say antibodies do you mean your anti thyroid peroxidase? Mine gas alway been over 350 and it should be below 100..... If you have certain types of thyroid disease (congenital, hasimotos) then this antibody will always be abnormal.....I've never been told it's a concern though and I'm on baby number 2

Good luck and best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Mine was around 1700, I believe.
My dr. said the only concern is that the antibodies may attack the baby's thyroid and cause it to swell. She said that worse case scenario (very rare) is that the baby's thyroid would swell so much that I would need a c-section for delivery. Once delivered, it would go down and not cause problems. My appointment with the high risk dr. is tomorrow. I should also get to find out the sex tomorrow!! (As long as the baby cooperates.)

Wow that is high !!!! Think mine is usually just under 400! I think that means we have a congenital type of thyroid disease which is an autoimmune condition! Fingers crossed all will be well! Good luck with the scan

Yea, my fertility specialist never came out and said it but I am sure I have something like Hashi's or Graves. My OB has mentioned it recently. My high risk doctor was not concerned. She said that a high level of antibodies usually did not hurt the baby. She has seen one case in almost 15 years of a baby with a goiter. She said as long as my TSH was controlled that everything should be fine but they will do at least 2 more extra ultrasounds to make sure he doesn't get a goiter.
We were also able to find out the gender!! After a while of not cooperating, we finally saw it!
