    I am 6 weeks pregnant. This is my third pregnancy. My first two ended in miscarriage (first one at 6 weeks, 2nd one at 12 weeks). Having had some blood tests it turns out I have elevated Thyroid antibodies which could be a reason for my first 2 miscarriages. I have to now wait 1 week to see a specialist for further tests etc. In the mean time, I am so worried that this pregnancy might already have gone wrong or failed because of this problem. has anyone else had thyroid issues in pregnancy?? Is there treatment available even in pregnancy?? Just can't bare the thought of losing another baby. Any help or advice appreciated...... thanks xxxx

    iam a hypo thyroid person and had suffered two miscarriages. i started thyroid medications before getting pregnant and iam still taking it and as per my doc i have to take it even during lactation. so don't worry there is medications available ( do you have elevated TCH levels ?? then you are also a hypo like me)
    please see the consultant and take the medication as early as possible.

    As long as your levels are checked every 4 to 6 weeks and the meds are increased things should be fine. I don't see a problem with having a thyroid problem in pregnancy as long as it is watched and taken care of.
    Good Luck and congrats:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

    I was diagnosed with underactive thyroid in January, and medication was adjusted in May -- had a perfect 28 day cycle, and got pregnant in June -- am now 25wks+3 with a so far, healthy baby boy -- after two years of trying with an mc and two possible chemicals.

    I only found out when we were doing pre-IVF blood work about my thyroid, and my GP immediately put me on medication; they tested me at 8wks and my medication did not need to be adjusted -- I have been told, the thyroid may impact mc, but it is more to do with actual getting pregnant (e.g. if your hormones are not in sinc, then much harder to get pregnant) and have seen little research to say that thyroid problems can cause mc, so please do not worry!

    best wishes

    ps. sorry for ad, hopefully my ticker will return soon!

    Thanks for your lovely supportive messages.... went for my specialist appt on Tues. I have been put on Thyroxin for my thyroid (underactive) and specialist scanned me. No heart beat was detected but I have to wait another week for another scan....... I don't feel very positive. I think this will end in mc also, making my 3rd mc this year.... but on the + side, they've found the problem so my next pregnancy fingers crossed will be a success. Got to try and stay positive but its really hard...... hopefully like SabrinaKat...xxx
