When will my lo be able to share a tin of heinz veg soup with me, he does already have tinned baked beans and other veg but i am not sure about the soups ?

I'm a FTM but I just recently had a 'food talk' with my ped and he advised against adult canned foods due to the sodium. He asked me to avoid in the first year if at all possible and even then, not to make it an every day thing.

I think it would depend on the salt content? But I would have thought most tinned/jar products would have too much salt..

just keep a eye on the salt content. x

I use the reduced sugar and salt baked beans.. he has them maybe once or twice a week. I also use things like tinned tomatoes, but these have no added salt too.
I gave lo a bit of my spanish chicken the other day (made with sauce from a jar). He loved it! I would only do this once in a while tho.
If you like soup whay don't you make some? Doesn't take long and then you have the luxury of knowing exactly what your lo is having.
I had a cook up this morning, took me half an hour to make 14 portions of soup for the freezer.... 7 tomato and pepper and 7 carrot and potato! That's lunches sorted for a while then!

Tinned soups tend to be very salty, lots of them contain more than the recommended daily maximum amount of salt for babies in just 1/3 of a tin. The other thing to be aware of is that tinned soup contains BPA that has leached from the tin lining. Personally I would only give tinned soup as a very occasional treat. It's really easy to make your own. :)
