Hello ladies,

Just thought I'd post on here as I went to the toilet about half an hour ago and there was a tiny amount of spotting on the toilet paper after I'd wiped. I wiped again and then there was nothing. I'm at work so will go to the toilet again in a little while. If there's no more blood then I won't worry but if there's a tiny bit more, do you think it's worth me seeing someone about it? I have doctors tomorrow morning anyway so I will mention the spotting either way. Is it normal to still have a little bit of spotting at 17 weeks? I do have the tiniest little crampy feeling but it's barely anything. I've heard that sometimes when you would have had a period you can get spotting, but can you still get that at 17 weeks?

Thanks for any help

Anyone? Just a little advice would be appreciated.

I dont have any experience of this but didnt want to read and run because i can tell you are worried. If it was me i would see if there is more like you say and if so i would ring your 24 hour anti-natel line for advice and they may send you up for them to check you out. I know some people are just prone to spotting all the way through.

I had a little pink spotting at 17 weeks. I was told by my doctor that it is not common to spot after 1st trimester but that does not mean there is a problem. They sent me a for a scan and all was ok. Talk to your doctor tomorrow even if it does stop, they may want to send you for a scan just to check all is ok. More than likely all is ok, but get it checked out.

If it happens again I would ring your midwife/hospital just for advise - I am sure she will say see how it goes BUT I would always check just to give you peace of mind. I know if it was my I would worry myself silly (like I did when I had brown spotting). Actually if your worried ring someone or NHS direct now - there is nothing worse than being worried about bleeding/spotting when pregnant.

Thanks girls, I am quite worried about it! As time has gone on I've sat here working myself up a little bit because I didn't think spotting after 1st tri is normal. I will definitely tell my doctor about it tomorrow and see if maybe I can go for a scan to make sure the baby is okay.
Thanks for replying, it means a lot :)

Hi Sunseal,

Bit of useful info for you, I am 20+2 atm and I had a midwife appointment today. I have experienced spotting and have had every test for it. They have come to the conclusion that the naughty baby is using my bladder as a trampoline hence the blood.

She likened it to rubbing your eye and making it bloodshot.........she said sometimes you just cant explain these things are pregnancies are funny times........Ive seen/heard the baby and he/she is perfect, so I feel fairly ok about this now.

My Midwife is very honest and upfront and so I trust what she says.

Please dont worry too much and metion it to your dr tomorrow.

Kerry xx :hugs:

I had the same, I got so worried but went to doctor and she checked my cervix was closed and there was no more blood, then I had 20 week scan a few days after and everything was fine. Sometimes it can just happen...sometimes little blood vessels can go or baby can jump like crazy and dislodge little bits! I'm sure you will be fine, but no matter what people say to you ...you'll still worry! I just went to docs for peace of mind!

Hope that helps

have you been havin sex that can cause a little bleed afterwards?? xx

Hi hun, at almost 14 weeks I had a tiny bit of red/pinkish spotting. I called the midwife who told me that there wasn't a lot that could be done and that as it was only a bit with no cramping that I shouldn't worry. Oh and if it did get worse I wouldn't be able to get into EPU for 6 days!! Great! It happened again two days later, again only a tiny amount and it hasn't happened since. I can feel baby movements now which is putting my mind at rest a little but it is a bit frustrating that 2nd trimester bleeding, however small isn't taken very seriously!

Try not to worry hun, so many women experience a certain amount of bleeding in pregnancy, and most go on to have happy healthy little ones!! :hugs:

I would just monitor it throughout the rest of the day, but definitely mention it at your dr. appt tomorrow.

i had some red spotting at 13 weeks hun, and thats the only bleeding ive had this whole pregnancy so far.
went to EPU who scanned me and said all was fine, they didnt know where it was coming from but said it was definitely not from the sac.
i still dont know what caused it but my guess is that spotting usually comes from the cervix in pregnancy as its so sensitive.
im sure its nothing to worry about but definitely worth mentioning at your appt for reassurance

all bleeding and spotting should be mentioned to ur doctor or midwife. usually a small amount of spotting is nothing to worry about. i had spotting earlier in my pregnancy and they found no reason for it but all is ok.

if its when you went for a wee it could have come from ur bladder and i know sometimes with a uti you can get a little bit of blood so might be worth asking for a urine test just to be on the safe side. i had a uti and didnt know about it but they found it from my urine test. xx
