toddler still puts everything in mouth

My son still puts EVERYTHING in his mouth, everything. I dont worry about him swallowing it but often other mums will say ' oh dont put that in your mouth its dirty' or come and tell me that my son has a toy in his mouth.
Iv noticed the other toddlers at the group dont really seem to do this.is it ok? Should I be telling him not to do it? Iv just thought it was normal development but now im thinking maybe he shouldnt be doing it as much

yours is 18 months ish ? yeah, mine did that too at that age still. tbh she still has days where everything goes in or she'll have days where she licks everything? lol


I find myself more relaxed than others if its something gross, or a clear choking hazard, I will intervene, otherwise I just let her get on with it.

Yup same here. She does it more if I take something away. Eg crayons. She put one in her mouth so I took it away, she then decided to put every single other crayons in her mouth before I could remove them.

I wonder when it will end too. However atm its one of her less annoying habits lol. I just remove and wait until she does it with something else hahah

Mine put things in his mouth still until around 2 1/2. He slowly grew out of it with lots of reminders not to do it.

I wouldn't worry at 18 months. Lots of kids are still tactile with their mouths then.

My son is 15mo and does this as well...my mom and mil keep asking when he's going to grow out of it and start playing with toys...instead of trying to eat them lol.

My son still does it he has spd. I really wouldn't worry at that age. I always encourage him to touch rather than lick or put it in his mouth not that he listens!
