My lo has a Deformaty on her feet on one foot she has 2 fused toes , on the other they are all separate but one toe's nail bed is split in two (has a line down the middle) and is connected to the skin at the end.

I have previously mentioned it to the peadiatrian , he was treating her for a kidney problem , he looked at it and said it was ok but I'm sure that the nail that is connected to the skin has got deeper as she got older

I took her to the doctor today as its red and hurting her if she touches it (doesn't complain when walking) she gave her antibiotics and said that she can't advise if its ok to leave or treat in some way as she's never seen anything like it before. She asked me what I wanted done - I just want reassurance that its ok as it is or not

Has anyone had this problem before ? Did they do anything about it ?

She's said come back in a few weeks and see how it is - apart from the infection being cleared up its not going to be any different

It doesn't sound completely normal? Has her nail always been like that? Maybe she injured the toe at some point causing the split. The fact it's connected to the skin at the end may mean it's ingrown.

Can you see a podiatrist or orthopedist? Since you're not in the US, I don't know the answer to this question. Avery was born with a 5/4 overlap on her left foot and if it hadn't cleared up we would have seen a pediatric orthopedist. Her toes flattened out, but one of hers is still a little funky.

The nails on my little toes both have like 2 nails fused together (or 1 nail with a split down it). They grow normally though and has never caused any pain or problems. From your description it sounds like they are ingrown, as PP said. If so, that's quite a common problem and should be treatable.

It's always been like it from birth but as she has grown so has the nail

Yes that sounds like the same thing as my lo
