My daughter has got herself into a nap routine over the past week.(at 4 months!) She wakes around 8am, then has naps at 13:00, 15:30 and 18:00. I have tried getting her to take a 10ish nap but she will sleep for 2-5mins only. I don't know how she's going 5 hours without a proper nap, but as we all know, you can't force a baby to sleep if they don't think they need to!!

So my next step I think is to get bedtime sorted. But at what time? She only naps 20mins @ 6pm and she tends to fall asleep around 8.30 after a feed. So should I aim for 8.30?

I'm torn because she currently stays with us until our bedtime at 9.30 & by not forcing her into any routine she seems to be settling into her own routine. I'm wondering if I should just leave it as it is....but then I would love to have the odd Dh cuddle of an evening

I can't help you myself, but I'd love to see some ideas around bedtimes. How on earth do you get a baby to accept a bedtime without going for pickup putdown or cio??? Currently lo goes to bed when she falls asleep, which can be as late as 10.30...

Id say leave it at 8.30 or maybe try for 8pm as thats 12 hours after she gets up. Sounds like a good sleep routine if shes happy and not grumpy then i wouldnt worry that she stays awake for 5 hours in the morning!
My lo cant manage to be awake more than 3 hours without becoming very grumpy and has to nap an 1.5 hours after getting up which just happens to be after his bottle so it works out well! :) Then i try to get him to nap at about 1 and then at 4/4.30 then he goes to bed at 7.30.

Id leave lo if she seems happy enough playing, just my lo gets really grumpy without her sleep lol!

My LO at 4 months routine was and still is:
7am- wake up
8.30am-nap (one hour)
12pm- nap (40mins- one hour)
3pm- nap(one to two hours)
7pm- bedtime

at around 4 months my LO started rubbing her eyes when she was tired so I knew she was ready for a nap, I'd either put her in her cot if at home or if out and about put her hood on her pram up and a blanket over it so it was dark for her. She seems to know now that this is nap time and drops off quite easily x
