I've got everything now for baby but we don't have any toys as such for her. What toys and stimulus are good for newborns? We have a few things such as soft book, strange creature with lots of colour on one side and black and white pattern on the other etc. but what else would you suggest?

Thank you. :D

Lamaze have black and white rattle socks I had for my son and arm rattles you can get them in Early learning centre.

this is the only thing we don't have..toy's and such :/

Im not sure if they're any good from birth but we've got the like key rattles and some soft building blocks (probs best for abit older) xx

All my nct girls had it and I wished i'd have bought it for no1. No2 will definitely be getting one!

Just little rattles and stuff is good for a newborn. preferably in black, white or red as these are the colours they are most fascinated by and see easiest x

I like the ones that clip onto something, they clip onto the carseat or the stroller etc, newborns can't hold toys so I found these more useful for sure. You dont need too many toys, I had way too many for my first and most of them were a waste, you dont want to over stimulate but I really think those hangy toys give them something to look at

Oh my gosh, how funny is that, that is the one thing we do have and funnily enough it was a gift from a friend who sent it from Australia.

Thank you everyone for your help.

:haha: It's quite cute really. Me and the OH have a bit of a game going with it. One or other of us will squeak it's nose and pretend we didn't do it. It's amazing how such small things keep such small minds amused! :haha:

We haven't got any toys! I figure it will be hristmas soon and people will buy way too much. I like this section of babycentre

https://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/development/letsplay/

which gives ideas for games to play with baby for each week. I don't think newborns need lots of toys. But if we find we need a toy for the pram or a mobile we'll probably buy it as and when. I have bought a little soft toy cat, but more because I liked it really!

i had one of these for both my almost 12 and almost 9yr old!! i was just thinking about it this morning. so weird you posted this. it was my oldest FAVORITE toy. they actually had 2 sizes and we ended up buying the big one too bc he loved it so much and when he got to toddler age he would lay on it like a pillow. i HAVE to find one here in the states. :happydance:

they say to buy black and white like someone else mentioned. i think when they are first born they are some what color blind and can only really focus on that. i could be wrong but i do know it is recommended black and white for newborns. we have a few little things. mostly wrist and sock rattles and a few little things to clip on the car seat!

The black and white is because high contrast items appeal to them more. I think they find it easier to make out black shapes on a white background and vice versa.

I don't think newborns need any toys at all to be honest...? Looking at peoples faces, being spoken to and cuddled are usually entertaining enough.

Well, my nephew is 6 weeks and had no interest in toys until 4 weeks old lol.

Left in his pram for the past couple of weeks he will stare at a little white hanging teddy for a bit but prefers looking about. He also lies in his playmat for a bit but loses interest if you don't stay and swing the little hanging toys and talk to him.

He LOVES the musical cot projector though. I lie him on the playmat on his side with it about a meter away and he watches the lights etc. go round and gurgles to the music then falls into a wee sleep. It's lovely.

No interest in anything else though, doesn't care about the hangy toys from his bouncer or anything yet.
xx
