Traditional weaning - gagging!

I'm on day 3 of weaning which I've started earlier than I wanted too! Lo is 5.1 months! Only on baby porridge at the moment but he has gagged on it a couple of times! I've oogled but all I can find is info on blw!! I know it's early days and he is younger than recommended but is this norma for pureed food? worrying there's something wrong! Being a mummy is such a worrying adventure sometimes .. Well.. All the time!

Gagging is a normal part of learning how to eat solids. He'll gag less as he figures out how to move food around in his mouth and as he gets used to the texture of purees/cereals (or any food, really).
