Well i'm just about to set off for my midwife appointment!

I've been suspecting that baby is transverse, as i can literally feel her trying to roll over  it hurts a bit! So i'm away to find out...

Just for girlies who've already had their babies, were any of yours transverse? and if so, did your midwife/OBGYN turn them successfully?

I know i'm only 34 weeks but i'm a tiny bit worried as her head should be pointing down by now, and i've been fighting my midwife to let me have a natural delivery for weeks and weeks on end and she only just told me that i can, reeeeeally don't want to end up having a c-section if it can be helped

Thanks :) xxx

My baby is lying with her head to my hip and the rest of her over the place but im still early on. My sister baby was transverse still at 36 weeks. She was told they can try and move her or she could have a c section. She opted for the c section as there is a risk the cord can come away from the placenta while turning them resulting in needing an emergency c section anyway.

I know a lady who's LO was breech until 38 weeks, when she went for her ECV (or EVC can never remember) they scanned her, and LO had turned, I also know 3 or 4 ladies who's LOs turned in labour, it can happen!

Hey hun,was just nosying through this section and thought id answer as my LO was tranverse at 34weeks,she moved into head down by 37weeks though and stayed put that way then, although unfortunatley i ended up with c section anyway just due to cord being twice around her neck.
and i totally agree it can hurt when thier sideways.
hope she turns the right way for u soon hun im sure she will :) goodluck xx

my baby was transverse but then decided to go breech, they only arranged last week for my section but i was breech my whole pregnancy apart from the 1 appointment when i she was transverse, Theres plenty of time for her too move hun, if your bubba is transverse just get bouncing on a birthing ball or get on all fours and she should move :)xxx

Haven't had my baby yet but am in the same position. If she's still transverse at my 34 week appointment then my MW said she will send me for a scan at 36 weeks to see how she's laying and if she's still transverse at that then I'll be offered an ECV and if I say no to that it will automatically be a c-section. I'm still in 2 minds about weather I would try an ECV or not because I haven't actually asked my MW the risks etc and no offence to any of the ladies on here but I don't always believe what they say and feel it would be best to ask my MW about risks etc at the end of the day their fully trained and know what their on about whereas alot of women think that already having one baby makes them an expert on childbirth etc etc. Which obviously isn't the case... Keep us updated anyway. Let us know how you got on and what you decide xxx

Yeah i was gonna refuse an ECV cos it can result in you bleeding and needing an emergency c section there and then which i didn't want and no one i know whos had then recommends them as most of the time they dont work as their only 50/50 so they can move back, i wasnt offered one anyway cos of the postition of the baby so they just booked me a c-section for 39 weeks, i know i practically slagged off ECVs but if you really feel strongly about having a vagina birth then atleast consider it, You never know you might not actually need anything she could turn  xx

alice was transverse and then had her head to my hip and then about 36 weeks turned got her head down and stayed down. you have more time for her to turn but if she doesnt it will be a section because its reli not safe into to go in labour with a transverse because the cord or an arm or leg can come out. jus get baby out safe thats all that matters. tryin going on all fours with your bum in he air this is what turned alice because gravity pulls them. hope she turns for you x

Yep my little monkey was Transverse at my 37 week appt, I had to go back the next week when I was 38 weeks to see if he had moved and he had, yay! Was so worried that I would need a c section though, try not to stress to much tho, easier said than done...hopefully LO will turn for you, if not then I think its upto you if you want them to try turn bubs or just opt for a c section, I think personally I would of just opted straight fot the c section if my monkey hadn't turned.

You still have a good few weeks for LO to turn! Sending you baby turning vibes!! Hehe

Oh & just to say, yes it was uncomfortable, I dont envy you at all!!

Theo used to feel like he was trying to escape out of my hips, sooo sore!!

I'm sorry mommy :( I'm kinda going through the same thing as you are right now, except my lil bugger is breech and I'm 35 weeks lol. If she doesn't turn by 37 weeks they're going to schedule me for a c-section  Here's hoping both of our babies turn properly and neither of us have to have c-sections! :dust:

Hi girls :) thanks so much for all your replies - it was very encouraging :)

Turns out she is transverse at the moment, midwife didn't seem too worried and she said if she hasn't turned on her own in the next three weeks then they'd either try and turn her or i'd be booked in for a c-section. I'm perfectly happy to have one if it means she'll be safer :) and maybe it would be nice to know exactly when she'll be here :cloudnine:

So yes i'm currently bouncing away on my birthing ball - i don't know how much it'll be helping right now this second but it sure is fun :haha:

Thanks so much girlies, very helpful as ever :winkwink:
