Any advice on good travel system brands (we live in the US)? Also, is it more convenient to have a car seat that is portable (goes onto stroller frame/you can carry it around)?Or one that stays in the car all the time?

Im struggling with strollers too but yes get one that the carseat can go on because if the baby falls asleep in the car you can just lift it out without disturbing the baby :) i just came across this which is the cheapest one i have found that comes with everything but i cant find any reviews https://www.babyearth.com/contours-by-kolcraft-contours-bliss-4-in-1-stroller-system.html

thanks! i dont think im going to end up getting it :( my husband says its too expensive! i think its a great deal though!!

I thought I was all set on one of those "travel systems" where the car seat can be just transfered onto the stroller, but then read that it's not recommended to leave a small baby (most articles said under 3 months) in a car seat too much, as it's not good for their developing bodies; lungs and spines especially. So it seems better to just use the car seat in the car, and then have a stroller that lies flat (like a bassinet on wheels) for going for walks, etc.

I doubt I'll be going out much at all when the baby is tiny, so not too worried about it anyway, but if I do happen across a good deal on one of those flat infant strollers I will definitely snap it up. They don't seem to be super popular here in the US though, from what I've seen.

They are seperate attachments. Either you take off the seat and put on the bassinet seat or you fit it over the seat. Same with the carseat: either seat comes off and attach to frame or it fits over the seat somehow.

Because I was concerned about too much time in carseat i tended to put her in the stroller seat if she wasn't sleeping in the carseat already. I had the city mini which I loved because the seat reclines almost flat so I did not need a bassinet attachment - I just put a support pillow . I also had a carseat adaptor and would put the carseat on but only if she was already sleeping in the carseat.

I've read several studies on car seats that show that babies (especially under 3 months) in car seats for extended periods of time (an hour or longer), particularly when they are used in strollers (because you tend to go out for longer walks/shopping trips etc.) restricts their oxygen levels, in many cases to levels that would be considered dangerous for most adults.

A bassinet option for a stroller is a must for me. I don't want to keep my baby in a car seat longer than she has to be.

I used a travel system because my base stayed in the car-fantastic! Unless I planned to be out for a long time, he could just snap and go. If he was going to be asleep for a long time, I would transfer him to the stroller. But I do want to say, with any car seat it is important to get it fitted by a certified car seat specialist, as something like 90% of parents do not install at the correct angle. Good luck!

We got the UPPAbaby Vista. We purchased the carseat adapter to snap on. I have a friend who loves hers and highly recommended it. https://uppababy.com/vista/overview/

i did think that carseats cant be good for the baby, i just used the carseat with my son but i didnt realise then the problems with him being my first etc so this time i want the bassinet but its just trying to convince my husband now!

I've been struggling for WEEKS to find a good travel system. I want something highly rated, definitely no more than $200, easy to use, has good buyer reviews, and I'd like it to be somewhat cute.

I found this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Baby-Trend-Jogger-Baby-Travel-System-Millennium/14005459#Product+Reviews

Not the prettiest looking thing but it seems to have everything I want, even if it is a tad bit over my price range. I wanted to stay around $130-$150, but no big deal. :)

I like those kind but my husband doesnt like the 1 wheel in front he thinks they are dangerous :/ i really want the icandy one or the bugaboo because they can lay down flat but they are just so expensive!!

There are tons of second hand bugaboos on craigslist for around $300.

I agree with one of the previous posters -- the Uppababy Vista is awesome. But that's mostly if you live in an urban area where you stroll A LOT and need the wheels and suspension to be very durable. My son actually didn't like strolling in the bassinet so we used the Chicco 30 Keyfit carseat attached to the Vista frame quite a bit, and we used his bassinet in our room for sleeping.

If you're in the suburbs, an infant car seat used with a snap-and-go for trips to the mall or Target is the way to go.

Those huge travel systems are bulky and unruly -- not to mention not very good looking (IMO) :-/
