Is it crazy? We got invited to FIL's for Christmas and LO will be 6 months. He is not an easygoing baby (colic etc which went away about 2 weeks ago) but I was hoping it would be easier around 6-7 month? It would be a 3 week trip and 6 hour flight.

Hi hun, We travelled when Omar was 6 mnths. It was the best trip. He was an angel in the plane. He slept most of the time, & was in a cheerful mood. He went on chatting & babbling. He was loud but was well behaved. He slept during take off & landing. Enjoy :)

i dont really know what to say except google "flying with a baby" for some great tips,

Me and LO are flying to the UK from the USA (12-14 hours) in october, he'll be 2.5 months old.

if you breastfeed and are comfortable to do it on the plane then that will be the easiest thing you can do. otherwise read up on your airlines policies for taking liquids like EBM or premade formular, because they are all different! (that includes things like creams (diaper cream/baby lotion etc)

take as little as you can via carry on for yourself and just take what your baby needs during the flight, including whatever toys that will capture his attention, i also read that some people will take a compact cd player and take a cd and small headset for their baby to play lullabys or soft music to distract baby from the noises and feeling of taking off and landing.

also try feeding baby when plane is taking off/landing because it helps with their ears popping.

good luck!

We'll be travelling after 3 wks, but I'm not looking forward for this trip. He's not well behaved anymore, loooool :haha:

Hehe maybe it's a good idea to sneak it in now instead of later :)

Wow, pack me and Daisy in your suitcase too! It looks beautiful!!

Oh wow, lovely! I love Quebec City :D Hope you have an amazing time!

I agree that if you google tips for flying with a baby, you'll get some good advice :) If you you can have them feeding (either breast or bottle) during take off and landing, it can help their ears to "pop". Apparently this is what causes most babies to cry - they don't know how to alleviate the pressure in their ears.

Hope the trip goes smoothly! :hugs:

I am flying at the end of September when Lexi will be around 6.5 months old. The flight is only about 3-3.5 hours long but I am already nervous. She does not like to be handled when she is tired, usually I just put her down in her cot or buggy to sleep, but what on the plane where I have to hold her on my lap?! I hope she won't drive everybody crazy or get too upset. Good luck to you too! Sorry that I could not be helpful, just looking for some advice here myself :)

I went to Quebec city, its amazing this is a photo i took while there:

That's gorgeous!! I love QC, we go every year, OH's mom has an apartment right adjacent to the old wall, only about 5 min walk from that staircase!!!

I have taken all of my kids on a plane when they were young and it was fine. It gets harder as they get older so make the most of it!! Atleast with a 6 month old you dont have to worry about losing them at the airport :haha:
We always took their bottle with the warm water already in it and the milk in a container so we could feed them on take off. You just have to take a tiny sip of the water in front of security to prove its nothing dangerous!!
We also had a baby sling for in the airport so we still had our hands free when you dont have the buggy.

We're off to Egypt in January, so hoping Lewis will be fine on the palne too. Can't wait for our first family holiday plus it will be our first wedding anniversary.

That will be fun, Egypt is really baby friendly. I didn't have one at the time (2007) but I can see it's one of the nicer places for a family.

I'm off to Crete on Thursday with a 10 week old :) Can't wait!
