Hi :hi:

What does it take to make doctors listen to you?

I know they will not see me until Novemeber as that is my 1 year TTC. But I have been to docs recently for something else and when I mentioned we were trying for 9 months, they shrugged it off and said thats absolutly normal. I just dont think they are even going to listen when we go in at a later date.

What are your experiences? What do they look at first etc... Just want to get an idea

Thanks Ladies

Hello! So far my experience has not been too good. I am 23 and have been having unprotected sex with my husband for almost three years! I would not say we have really been trying but obviously not preventing either. During this time I only got pregnant once, which ended in tubal. The gyno that did my emergency surgery said he saved my tube. I still have no idea if it a working tube, because he told me it may or may not be functioning. They STILL will not help me because of my age......it really sucks too because they do not even really want to do any tests. My gyno said the furthest she will go is doing the dye test to make sure my tubes are clear. She also pretty much told me that once a year hits she STILL might not even help me because "I am still so young". Pshhhh...

Okay, I'm sorry but that's a load of crap. She still might not even help you because you're "still so young"?? What right does she have to decide whether or not you get to have a baby?? She's the one person that can help you and she's just choosing not to because she thinks you're young? Ugh, that makes me mad! :growlmad:
I would look for another doctor hun, and don't even mention that you were NTNP, just say you tried for a year and demand some tests!!! Sheesh!!

Thanks. I do not agree with her either but I do think I can help myself out more by getting to know my body better. If I do not land preggo this month I am going to start charting. I have been checking my cervix but that does not seem to help either. I am no longer seeing her or any doctor for that matter...I do have insurance but I just recently got it and have only seen that obgyn. When I do finally want to get fertility treatment I want to have my charts in hand and KNOWING that I did what I could on my own, ya know?

I hate that too young excuse its the same thing doctors told me luckily ive got other things going on so i got referred for a scan and blood test and hopefully that will sort some things out if theres anything wrong.

@ shanmorgan97 I dont see why they assume that just because your young you will automatically get pregnant although it may be the case for most especially in your case they should make an exception

So far ive found that the best way to get listened to is to take back up with you who will stand up for you when your not being listend to

I know its frustrating :hugs:

Where are you guys at?

I just told my OBGYN the other day that my husband and I were ttc. He not only took me and my age seriously (I am 20) but he was like "I really want you to get pregnant. And I will help in any way I can" so I told him about how I hadnt had a period since I stopped my birth control four months ago and he prescribed me Provera to jump start it and then is starting me on 50mg of clomid next cycle. He is also doing the progesterone testing all through my cycle.. although I dont believe he will be doing U/S quite yet to monitor egg size. He just wants me to take it easy and ovulate. lol

Anyway, I would say if your guys doctor is not listening to you (and is especially refusing to help you because of your age) I would go see another DR.

Im in the UK and they wont help until Ive hit 1 year TTC. x
