Trouble conceiving after IUD

I had an IUD - Mirena for a couple years and got it removed in December 2010 and I still do not have a regular period. It was a couple years before I got a period at all. A few months after I had it removed and noticed I wasn't getting my period.. my dr prescribed a medication to jump start my period, but it only worked for as long as I took it and didn't change anything.

So, here we are 4 years later and I still don't have a regular cycle. I am getting it around every 2-3 months. In the meantime, we have continued TTC, but I'm not very optimistic considering I'm not ovulating properly.

I was wondering if anybody else has ever experienced something like this and how they handled it.

What was the medication you were put on? Is it possible you need to be continuously taking it in order to ovulate? Or was it just a short term medication?

I don't remember what it was because it's been so long ago at this point, but it was short term. It lasted 1 week..
