Hi everyone,
my LO turned 3 weeks old yesterday, he went through a growth spurt a few days ago which seems to be over now. He suffers with reflux and trapped wind so I started him on infacol yesterday for the wind problem.
My issue is that I'm having trouble getting him to stay in his Moses basket! He will be quiet in there for about 20 mins but then cries to come out! He always seems to want to be held upright on my chest or over my shoulder.
Last night I co-slept with him, I kept trying to sneak him back into his Moses basket once he was sleeping but he was having none of it!
Does anyone have any experience of this happening to them? I'm thinking of getting a baby wrap/sling so that I can get things done while he wants to be close to me, but I just don't know what to do in the night!

Hi Heather, we were having the same problem! The MW said it might be wind and has given us infacol so we will see how that pans out. I am also trying to wind her for longer. I have read on here about tilting the mattress and also keeping LO upright for 30 mins after a feed so might try that too

We tilt our Moses basket by putting a yellow pages under it, as advised by both the mw and the hospital. After each feed I keep him upright for about 10 mins after winding him, this seems to stop him getting hiccups and means he settles quickly when I put him in...so far we have had no problems and he has only grizzled 2 both times were due to constipation and we sorted that with belly rubs, again suggested by my mw, he did a pooh by the time his next nappy change was due.

We tilted the mattress slightly (a folded hand towel underneath it), rolled two blankets and put them along the sides if the Moses basket so that LO felt as if she was still being held :)

For hiccups if they will take boob/bottle let them have a suck and that tends to cure them

yes my LO is 4 weeks now and wont go in his basket, I think it is just laying down as I discovered this week he will quite happily sleep in his bouncy chair for a few hours! Maybe prop him up abit so hes not laying flat

my first was just like yours; i'd put her down in the basket and she'd be awake within 30 mins. we gave up and co-slept for a few months! then she went in her cot at the end of the bed, on her front but with a motion sensor pad. she slept like a dream then.

my second is heading the same way.

mine lo never took to the moses basket, eventually gave in and co-slept, best thing ever we both got much better nights sleep, as she got older her id gradually put her into her crib more and more until she just took to it, she wont sleep snuggled up to me in bed now and loves her cot, but im glad we had those cosy close snuggles in the early days !

my LO slept much much better in her cot- which was tilted under the mattress. she loved being able to lie with her arms spread out and it was right beside my bed so i felt that i could see her better in her cot than having to peer over and into the moses basket. which meant i slept better too.
