My and hubby decided to TTC for number 2 in January 2016. I stopped my pill and got my withdrawal bleed as normal. Then I didn't get a period after that. After 6 months I went to the doctors and was told I could have PCOS. I was sent for a blood test and then had a scan on my ovaries which confirmed PCOS.

I have had 2 periods since. The last cycle lasted 58 days. Now I'm not sure what happens. Do I just keep trying and see what happens?

My GP hasn't been very helpful. He just said that I need to wait it out and that because I got pregnant naturally with my son there is a chance I will conceive naturally again.

I haven't had pcos explained to me. All I know is what I've read up online.

It's driving me mad. It took me 11 months trying to get pregnant with my son and I had 2 early miscarriages during that time but my cycles were `normal` at 31 days. I don't know how long I've had pcos.

I don't know what to do and just feel like I'm in limbo.. can anyone offer any advice? :)

Hi! i am also ttc #2 with PCOS.. its been 21 months now. Have they offered anything to help with the PCOS? as soon as I was diagnosed they put me on Metformin, which helps with the insulin resistance that people with PCOS often suffer from. PCOS and the hormonal imbalances it comes with make us ovulate irregularly and sometimes not at all, which is why we have long cycles. Ovulation tests CAN help but for some women with PCOS they do not work.. temping (taking you basal body temp first thing in the morning at the same before moving) can help pinpoint ovulation. Ask to see someone who will help you get the ball rolling and help you understand PCOS and all that it involves

Hi thanks for your reply.

No I haven't been offered anything or been referred to anyone. I think I'm going to make an appointment at the doctors to ask him if I need to be referred to anyone. I was on metformin when I was pregnant because I had gestational diabetes but haven't been offered it since.

Ovulation tests could be a good idea for me because at least then I'll know if I'm actually ovulating. I don't think taking my basal temp would be a good option for me as I'm always in such a rush in the mornings during the week.

Did you get referred to anyone when you started TTC? This PCOS malarkey really sucks doesn't it? :(

Id definetly make an appointment. Since I found out I have PCOS i have been seeing an endo and starting this month I started seeing a fertility specialist. Metformin was given to me the same day I was diagnosed. The only issue with Ovulation tests and PCOS is sometimes we always have lh (what it detects) in our system so we never get a clear answer...for me for example, my test is ALWAYS almost positive but it never actually reaches +. If i were you id ask about Metformin and ask them to look into this further.. sometimes they are willing to give fertility medication right away. Good Luck!

Thank you so much for your help! I'm going to phone the doctors tomorrow and make an appointment with my GP and see if I can get some answers. I've never used ovulation tests before so I'll give them a try and see what happens. Good luck TTC.. I hope you get your BFP soon :)

Just to update.. I've seen the GP and she has referred me to the gynecology fertility and reproductive medicine department. My appointment is 8th December x
