TTC after 2 miscarriages

Hi, I'm a first time poster but have been ttc for nearly one year. I had my first miscarriage this past December at 7 weeks. We waited one cycle as directed by my doctor and then we got pregnant two cycles later. I am in my 4th week and just heard from my doctor that my hcg has fallen, not doubled as it should. I'm confirming with blood work today and should get the results tomorrow - it seems a miscarriage is inevitable.

So, my question is what is wrong with me!? I can get pregnant but cannot stay pregnant. I have pretty short cycles of 25 days with an 11 day luteal phase. I also use OPK's each month and though I know these don't guarantee you ovulate, I do get a positive OPK each month and have been pregnant twice (that I know of). My doctor has the approach that I'm in the drivers seat and I've researched a lot but really need help. I'm not a doctor and would really like to know what tests I should be doing and if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I'm thinking perhaps I have a luteal phase defect. My husband and I are healthy, I'm 32, he's 31. I'm struggling with if should just try progesterone the next cycle or start clomid as maybe I'm producing weak eggs. We just want a baby so badly!

Any insight is welcome. I'm just a little lost and defeated.

Hi ... have you checked for clotting disorders? I too have had 2 miscarriages and have been recently diagnozed with Protein S deficiency. Its a genetic condition that forms blood clots that dont allow nutrients to pass to the baby even in very early stages. It is treated with blood thinning medication (as soon as pregnancy is confirmed).

Also 11 days seems to be borderline luteal phase defect. Have you tried progesterone suppositories post ovulation?

Thanks ttcin2012 and sorry to hear about your losses but very encouraged that you were actually diagnosed! I haven't checked for clotting disorders but will ask my doctor about that at my next appointment - thank you for sharing. Someone recommended taking baby aspirin to help thin blood.

I actually started progesterone suppositories right after I got a positive pregnancy test for my last pregnancy but it was too late. I'm planning on starting them 3 dpo during my next cycle and hopefully I can get some of the testing done as well.
