ttc after ectopic

Hello ladies

I had an ectopic pregnancy diagnosed at the beginning of oct - had one injection of methotrexate and my hormone levels are now less than 20 so have been discharged.

I have been advised to wait 3 months before ttc due to the effects of methotrexate.

I just wandered if any of you out there have any success stories about conceiving after an ectopic - looking for some reassurance I guess.
Also did you wait until your cycles were back to normal? I was considering just starting to try again after 3 months regardless of my cycle.

Hi Emmjay,

I unfortunately had a ectopic in Aug and was too late to have Methoroxate they had left it too late for me so had to have surgery to remove my left tube...i am now nearly 5 weeks pregnant.....and have bloods taken every other day for hcg levels to double.....

I waited 2 cycles before trying again but i know with the injection you have to wait 3 months due to birth defects...

thanks for your response. I certainly feel lucky that they caught mine early and I avoided surgery.

I too had an e/p and lost my right tube.. I am thinking of ttc this month but also feeling very scared about it all..Good luck Emma xx

i lose my right tube in july...and got pregnant with my sticky bean in august xxx

Hey hun, I had an ectopic October 2009 and took methotrexate in November 2009 and hcg levels nil about 18th October. I had a wacky period in December only had 17 days between bleeds then had a normal cycle between Dec and Jan. I waited till end of March to try again and got my BFP first cycle (April 17th I started and got BFP 17th May)

I didnt dare try during the 3 month period because of the folic acid deficiency that Methotrexate causes but i started the Folic Acid in January and am now 32 weeks pregnant and everything is ok.

It is worrying but if you dont try you wont ever know and there isnt anything you can do to avoid it happening again.

At least wait the 3 months and then take the vits, your cycles shouldnt be that messed up I only had one daft cycle xxx
