Tubal Repair

Hi Everyone

Hope u r all having a lovely weekend.

We have been ttc for 42 months and have just got the ball rolling after dealing with relatively inexperienced gp's. We have both male & female factor, he has low motility & morphology. Me I'm all ok with ovulating etc.
Have just returned from laparoscopy yesterday and it wasn't great news we were kind of expecting it, both tubes are blocked as the dye went nowhere near where we wanted it to the join between the uterus and tube is suspected to be blocked. We are now going for a hysterosalpingogram hopefully in a few weeks to give a clearer indication of the blockages and condition of my tubes. Which leads me to ask if anyone has had a tubal repair or whether it is likely to end up as IVF? I would love it if we could salvage my tubes as we may have a chance at several natural pregnancies, whereas we get one shot at IVF on nhs, but most importantly I would just really really love a healthy pregnancy & baby however it is achieved!

Hope they can save your tubes. Unfortunatly with mine I had ectopics in both before they found the blockage or damage and had to have them both removed.

Sorry to hear all that you have been through hun. From my understanding once tubes are damaged they are pretty hard to repair. Even if they do repair them the inner lining is often damaged and leads to increased chance of ectopic pregnancies, and also they are likely to become blocked again, although every situation is unique.

I am also waiting for HSG, see my sig for full update. I do know that if the tubes are damaged then I am sorry to say IVF or as your OH has male factor then ICIS is what you will need. The results are good as long as you don't have a condition in the tubes which can damage the embryo. They will be able to tell you this after the HSG. You might want to check with the NHS if they don't offer more, to be honest we will just be self paying as I am already 36 and don't want to wait any longer. Goodluck to you for a good HSG, if you do get a good result, see if you can get put on clomid, more eggs more chance for you OH swimmers!!

Hi Cuffy,
I had HSG which showed both my tubes were blocked due to hydrosalpinx. This came as complete shock to me and I got very upset when I got home and researched on internet. Just had Lapascopy on Friday, doctor was happy was able to open both tubes, draining fluid, checked they were open using dye. He is giving me six months to see if I can get pregnant if not will start ivf.
Have any of you heard about Clear Passage, centre in America where they do massage therapy to unblock tubes. Blockages from uterus to tube like yours Cuffy is easiest to release whereas mine is the most difficult. Its expensive about the cost of an ivf treatment plus the cost of getting there. Like you I'd like a natural pregnancy rather than having ivf as only option. I'm 36 only ttc since last year but just seem to be coming up against more obstacles the more tests I get done.

Hi All

Funny isn't it but over here in England they think it is best to remove the tube if hydrosalpinx is present, then go straigth to IVF as succsess has been good. I know only to well how you feel about the age I am 36 and seam to be loosing some vital stats for a positive outcome as my age creeps up!
