Hi does being in the jumperoo count as tummy time? My little boy is 6 months now and still doesnt like being on his tummy for long. I know tummy time is important and was wondering if things like jumperoo etc counted. Thanks in advance. x

No it doesn't count, but I honestly don't rate tummy time. Both of mine have had reflux and never/rarely done any tummy time as they would be sick.

thankyou. I have been wondering about this for few weeks so im glad I asked now x

I don't think it matters though, my ds was never delayed in anything xx

no definitely not but being held on your chest does! xx

Tummy time isn't important. Giving your child a chance to move around and develop their motor skills is. As long as your child isn't strapped into seats all the time, your child is fine. I never made a point of doing tummy time with Violet and she crawled and sat at 7.5 months and walked at 10.5 months.

Leo is only 4 weeks, but I have no intention of doing "tummy time." That being said, he does spend time doing things that "count." For example, being held on a shoulder, laying on my chest while I'm reclining, and being in the carrier.

My baby hated "tummy time" until about a month ago, at most, so I never really did it with him. He's still on track to starting to crawl and moves wonderfully despite not doing it much.

He'll do it when he's ready, try not to stress too much about it, but definitely keep trying.

They're all different. My son rolled at 7 weeks (born 4 weeks early even!) but still didn't love tummy time.

This little girl HATES tummy time so I don't do it much. She hasn't rolled yet and she's 19 weeks tomorrow. But she loves sitting up with assistance and tries to on her own. Doctor is still pleased with her back strength even though I hardly do this with her.
I'm not too worried. As they say: unlikely they'll still be laying on the floor when they're about to graduate high school hahaha!

Our boys also LOVE the jumparoo. They would spend all day in it if I let them. Much like you, our boys hated tummy time, so we had to get creative with alternatives. The things that worked for us were propping them up in a Twin Z pillow (a boppy would also work), and putting distracting things in front of them. A friend gave us this water filled aquarium thing that mesmerizes them and they spend longer on their tummies without screaming. In case it helps, this is a list of the tummy time alternatives that worked for our boys. Good luck to you and your LO's with tummy time! https://www.theydontfeedthemselves.com/top-5-tummy-time-alternatives-twins/

Tummy time really isn't important. What is important is giving your baby the opportunity to move freely. If you respond to what your child wants and you don't constantly strap them devices that restrict their movement such as car seats and bouncers, they'll be fine. Violet crawled and sat at 7.5 months without tummy time and Leo was crawling before 6 months and sitting at 6 months without tummy time. Other babies are on a slower time scale and that is OK.

Edit: oops, I just realized this is an old thread that I responded to a long time ago!
