U/S Scan Today & Nervous

Hey girls, I have my U/S Pelvis scan today at 2.30 & Im really nervous and have no idea what to expect ... I know its going to be internal but will they talk me through what there doing?

&& I must get the thought of them finding a bean out of my head, because i know its impossible!!

Hey Zoie, the u/s really is nothing to worry about. It is totally painless and only takes a few minutes. they probably wont say too much as it is just a case of popping the scanny thing (technical term!) in and moving from one side to the other to have a look at your ovaries. They might let you have a look at the screen but to be honest I've never been able to make out what they're showing me, I just nod sagely and say 'oh yeah'!

if you want them there, I don't see any reason why they wuoldn't be allowed unless they were restricted on space or something like that. The nurses I have seen have always been great and really understanding. They know that it's all a bit embarrassing and uncomfortable for us and I think they do really well to put you at your ease. I'm sure they will be the same for you.

For me......they had me drink 750ml of water 2 hours before my appt.
They did the U/S which took about 2 minutes......then let me go pee
then they did the internal, which is perfectly fine and and way less painful or comfortable compared to a pap.

the internal for me lasted a bot longer because she had a hard time finding my left ovary, so she had to push down on my abdomen.

That maybe lasted 5-10 minutes.....then it was done.

She didnt really talk much about the whole thing, except when she said she couldnt find my ovary (in the end she did).....and she talked a bit about other things, i guess to make me feel comfortable. I couldnt see the screen and then she told me that my doctor would have the results in a week.

I went in really nervous like i was about to have a major op
My Df wasnt alowed to come in the room tho :/ the room was really big and there was a student in there aswell... But anyways slightly embarrasing and uncomfortable.

Got it done anyway now got to wait 7 - 10 days for the results.
