Hi ladies

So I had the form to fill in when I gave birth to my LO but we need to send off her birth cert with it before we start to receive the money....

Her birth registry appt is in a few weeks time - so will it be back paid?

They do back pay but i think its only for 2 months i could be wrong though

It'll be back paid to the Monday after your baby's date of birth! Took about a fortnight for the award letter to come through and then another few days for the birth certificate to arrive back.

Beca

It's either 3 months or 1 month.....it use to be 3 months but I *think* it may have changed to 1 month only.

I've got the form sitting in front of me and it says on the top to send it asap as they will only backpay 3 months. Really need to send mine off too! xx

My LO was born 13 oct. I sent the form off at the start of jan and got the award letter last week saying they would back pay to 19 dec. I thought is was 3 months too so I'm going to phone tomorrow and appeal.

oh thanks for reminding me!

It was 3 months in July when my LO was born but with all the recent cutbacks etc i think it might have been changed to one month only as well.

no, its 3 months still according to the hmrc website so you could easily appeal it if it is 1 month.

I am hoping it is 3 months (I am sure that is what is said on the form) - harry is now 10 weeks lol better send it off today - thanks for the reminder.

Thanks ladies - will fill the form out n see what I can do about sending it without her birth cert as won't have that until she's almost 6eks old due to registry office!! :-(

I am sure its 3 months too-sent mine off a few days ago, they better back pay it!
xx

we put ours in when LO was 11 weeks and they backdated it so i wouldn't worry.

Hi hun, I had all my child benefit back payed but taxcredits is only backpayed a couple of months xxx

Update on my situation. Called the child benefit contact centre about discrepancy in award date (dec instead of oct) and was told they have input the wrong dob for my daughter. I have to resend her birth certificate so they can change it and I can get the additional two months! Idiots.

Oh no - but at least they're def going to back pay x

Why not apply straight away so no need to having to hope for a backpay??

Sorry, just read on and see some couldnt register birth for a while.....in Scotland a birth needs to be registered within 2 weeks :flower:

You're right - I meant to do it straight away but I just kept forgetting!! I think I had it in the back of my mind that I had three months to do it do just thought I'd get round to it!! :dohh:
