Ultrasound, 12 weeks. What to expect?

Ok, so I've trawled the net looking for videos and that but I've not really found anything concrete.
Will I have to undress from the waist down? Will it be a transvaginal ultrasound as well?
Confused.

At 12 weeks is highly unlikely to be a transvag, and normall they just ask you to loosen your trousers a lil, you dont take them off though!

I just had to remove belt and undo top button of jeans. All modesty intact!

They will tuck a piece of tissue into your trousers to protect your modesty and so you don't get gel over your clothes. My 12 week scan baby was so low she had to scan literally over my pubic bone.

It will be abdominal too

If you are a bit embarrassed don't be or you will have trouble over the coming months

with my first pregnancy i justlay down and pulled my trousers down to mypants and they put the gel on and then did the scan...was amazing!goodluck x

They would only do an internal scan if they weren't sure of something or perhaps your dates were out.

I had one at 12 weeks as bubs measured 9 weeks and didn't have a heartbeat so they wanted to make sure that they hadn't made a mistake. It wasn't bad at all. I just went behind a curtain, took my bottoms off and wrapped a blanket round me. Then went out, sat on the bed and she did it. You're not on display for all the world or anything and it didn't hurt.
