Just wondering if anyone else had an Unicornuate uterus? I was told i had 1 about 8 years ago now. I've just been refered back to the fs but im not sure what they are gonna do.
xx

Hi

I have unicornuate uterus..Right now i am 5 weeks pregnant and is my second pregnancy..First i delivered at 34th week but didn't survive and had hard time concieving the second..

Just wondeing if you have a small uterus? I do but im not sure if its part of the unicornuate. xx

My best friend has a unicornuate uterus, and had no idea until she fell pregnant (whilst on the pill) with her first baby. So I don't think this would cause too many problems actually concieving (well it didn't for my friend!), but she was montiored more closely towards the end of her pregnancy. But the birth and baby were absolutely fine.

Putting this out again to see if there's Anyone else? Xxx

Hi. I have a unicornuate too. A unicornuate is half of a uterus. When we r being formed as babies our uterus is two seperate parts then it fuses around twenty weeks. For whatever reason in you and i, one half of our uterus didnt form properly. In my case the other half of my uterus did start to form, leavingwhat they call a rudimentary horn, which can either be communicating or noncommunicating. Mine is noncommunicating which means that it is not connected to the larger side of my uterus. Communicating means it is open to the other half of your uterrus therfore u could get pregnant in that side which would be bad and they would probably surgically remove that side of your uterus which is fine bc u dont need it anyway, but they left my other aide in bc it is noncommunicating theefore not hurting anything even though it is still useless. Anyway, you also probably only have one tube And even if u have two theres not much point in that second one. What to expect...I'll give u a summary of my story. I found out through hsg that I had a unicornuate after 16 months ttc. Had mri to make sure I had two kidneys which I did. In my case I also had a problem with my one tube and it had to be removed unrelated to unicornuate, so I went straight to Ivf. Had one fresh cycle and two fets all negative. Having next Ivf in march. My lining has been a problem, but that may not be related to unicornuate. If u have Ivf ur transfers will be more difficult bc of ur uterus placement. Lots of ultrasounds once u are pregnant. Good possibility of a cerclage bc of cervix competence issues. Probable bed rest and preterm labor. Let me know if u want more info. (sorry for my typing style here, I'm on my phone)

Another type of rudimentary horn they would remove is noncommunicating with endometrial lining (period) but I think u would know if you had that type bc periods would be painful as the blood would have no where to go. Best type to have is noncommunicating without lining. Or actually no rudimentary horn at all would be best I assume. Also csection likely bc of uterine room restriction causing breech birth.

Thanks for replying hunny.
When they checked my kidneys they found I only have 1!! I was shock to think I'd gone 23 years without knowing :haha:
Are you gonna start a journal? I'd love to follow your story xxx

Sorry to hear that you only have one kidney, but since you've gone this far without a second one, I'm sure it won't be too big of a deal.

Can't believe I forgot to mention it before! I've been blogging for over a year now. You can follow me at Lopsided Lady on Blogspot. (Search on google, under blogs for lopsided lady) The forum wont let me add an actual link bc i have less than 10 posts.

Very interesting info there Mossy..hope it gives you some help! x

Hi guys,

I am a Unicorn, too - only when ovulating from the right side do I have a chance to become pregnant.

We tried for quite some time -2 years - but considering that we spend 4 months in separate countries and the fact that I can only fall pregnant every second cycle - well, that means in 'real terms' it took us 10 months to fall pregnant, which is not really that unusual.

Keep trying and do not put pressure on yourself.

Actually, I feel pregnant when we stopped thinking about it, in fact, after we had decided that we would nature let have her way and that we would not go for IVF if things didn't work out naturally. We were in the throws of doing works to our new house - and then it happened. I had let the subject 'disappear' from my thinking and so I was actually stunned to find out I was pregnant.

I am due in 3 weeks time. Baby was already turned head down by the start of week 29. My doc said it might be because of restricted room in the uterus that baby would turn early (and not turn back around as so many little ones do), and she was right.

Good luck to you!

Thank you for stopping by!!
We have our 1st consultation for IVF on the 19th March :). So exciting.

Are you they letting you go to 40 weeks? My gyne told me I would be booked in for a Section at 37 weeks xxx

Yep, doctor says that since baby is in the right position, CTGs and everything else is fine, there is no reason to induce early or go for a c-section. Although I do feel like I am about to explode, I am sure the belly cannot get any bigger lol.

I wish you all the best for the future, remember not to worry too much, it's a wasted emotion and stresses you out!

Thank you so much!! I've always been told that a section was the only way. I'm so pleased to hear otherwise. I hope your birth is perfect. Will you pop back in with your birth story? Xxx
