I have to thank everyone here for posting about scans etc, because it has given me a lot of good advice (and education).

After (a lot) of lurking and reading here about private scans, DH and I have bitten the bullet and have decided to get a private dating scan done (as I should be 8+2). So, at 8.30pm tonight, hopefully we'll see our little bean properly and get to hear his/her heart beat too.

Thanks for the advice, even if you ladies didn't know you were giving it to me!

Had a private dating scan last night. Sproglett was found, wriggling like his/her life depended on it, with a fetal heart rate of 164! DH promptly burst into tears when he saw it - I think it's only just really sunk in that he's going to be a daddy! We've been given an EDD of 30 April 2012.

When I came downstairs this morning, I caught DH looking at the scan pics of sproglett, with tears in his eyes.

Doc said that it looked to be a completely normal, healthy pregnancy and that the dating scan gave a development date of 8+4, which was spot on for what we had calculated.

I now have to work out how to scan the scan so I can show the pic...
