Updating visa debit on PAYPAL?

Ive just been sent my new contactless visa debit card as my old one is due to expire shorty and have just tried to update the new expiry date on PayPal and it wont accept it, says to contact my card issuer, any ideas why?

you need to redo the whole card as the card number will be different

It could be because your old one hasnt expired yet,and Im sure Visa Debit cards only have a certain amount of time on them,I think 3 years.So if the date is more than that in advance it wouldnt register

Thing is I went to pay for something yesterday with my old card and it wouldnt accept it so used my new card and it was fine (chip and pin not paypal).

Ive just checked and all the numbers are the same, only difference is the valid to and from dates..

I guess the easiest thing would be to call my bank, will do it tomoza cant be bothered now!
