I'm hoping some of you lovely ladies could help me out with this:flower:

My girls' Playcentre (sort of a mix between nursery and playgroup for under fives run by the parents) are celebrating their kids' Christmas party tomorrow and all the families have been encouraged to bring in a wrapped Christmas present, which after the party will all be taken to the Auckland City Mission, who will then distribute the gifts to underprivileged children and families that are going through a hard time. For my girls to take in I've got a Peppa Pig tea set like this: https://www.amazon.com/Peppa-Pig-1680435-Tea-Set/dp/B007KVEC9M and a colourful beach toy set with a big waterwheel, sand moulds, spade, a rake, etc. (wrapped as two separate gifts), but I don't quite know what age and gender to label them for? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, so thank you in advance:thumbup:

Girl age 3.

I assume both are 3yr+ from a safety perspective (link shows that for teaset and I imagine the other stuff is too). A lot of kids outgrow Peppa Pig before school so I'd put age 3 as the age, or whichever range includes 3. Gender, I know boys do often like Peppa Pig, but it seems to be more girl orientated. I hate to say this especially as just yesterday I had a long conversation about gender stuff when my daughter wanted to watch "girls tv" instead of superhero cartoons, but I'd put "girl".

Thank you. I was thinking that about the tea set, so maybe I'll mark that as being for a 3-4 year old girl then. I've actually got the same set for my almost 16 month old, but it does say 3+ on the box, so I guess I should stick to that.

The beach toys I was thinking could fit a broader range and either gender (they're just generic colourful ones and wrapped as a separate gift), but I'm not sure how old kids would play with them until?

That's a nice idea :)

I'd probably put girl age 2-3/4 on the Peppa Pig thing. Doesn't it usually say things aren't ok for under 36 months if unsupervised? I let my DD have all of that kind of stuff cause she's not often out of my sight.

The bucket and spade set would be nice for a 2-5 year old boy or girl I'd say, probably good to keep it broader anyway so that they can make sure there's something that fits for everyone.

I'd say the beach toy is for both genders. My son is nearly 5 and would love it, so I'd say 2/3-5.

I would ask t disregard gender as it is silly to put a gender on it.

id do 2/3 on the peppa thing too. I would say the toys are for anyone but i understand the classification here

My nearly 2 year old son would love the tea set!!

Ignoring health and safety I'd say 18 months - 4 years :)

If it were for my own children, I'd say 2-5 boy or girl. I agree that tea sets are fine for boys HOWEVER not everyone thinks that way and since you don't know the family who will get it, I'd stick to labeling it as a girls' toy. I know it's horrible to think, but it would be sad if it was given to a little boy and him not be allowed to play with it because one of his parents was a bit funny about gender roles. The sand toys seem pretty neutral to me, is it an option to write 'boy or girl' or do they need to go in separate bins?

I would do tea set for girls, and beach set for boys.

The age I would write exactly what the recommendations are on the label.

Thank you everyone for sharing your views:flower:, and sorry for the delayed response. I ended up labelling the tea set for a girl 3-4, as like the why bird said I'd hate for it to go to a little boy and his parents gender stereotype and not let him play with it (not that I'd know of course) or for a younger child to choke on something unsupervised even if both scenarios are probably unlikely. For the sand toys I went with boy or girl 2-5 as there were no choking hazards there. Thanks again and hope you're all having a lovely Christmas.
