Anyone using asprin during ivf/icsi?

Have had 2 failed icsi cycles and will hopefully be starting a 3rd before the end of the year.

During my last review the Dr said i could try using asprin next cycle as it can help keep the womb lining thinner and aid implantation (??) I was wondering if this has to be perscribed by a Dr or is anyone self medicating? How long do you take it for and when do you stop taking it?

Hey Angel

I've got my review appointment today and am going to ask about this, I'll let you know what I find out.

Hope you are ok:hugs:

My FS hasn't said this but I'd love to hear what the advice is. xx

Thanks Spring will be interested to hear. Good luck for later xox

snl did you just decide to take the baby asprin yourself of was it perscribed?

Hey angel - just wanted to add something that you might ask about - my clinic is suggesting a endometrial biopsy on cd21 the cycle before ivf or fet - as it will aid in implantation. The research shows that it wakes up the lining and causes it to release a hormone that helps with implantation.

Wishing you all the luck in the world.

I don't understand why clinics don't all think the same and do everything they can to ensure we get our bfps!

Thanks Blue - read that in your journal earlier so im off to google what it entails. Dont like the sound off it but if it helps....!!

Mummy i know what you mean! My clinic actually told me not to go on the itnernet - wonder why - oh yeah so i wouldnt find out what they are not doing!!!

lots of ppl in the ttcal forum take this, self-medicated.

I thought about it but decided against, but I would go for it if it was advised by a doctor x

I think i asked FS a while ago as I remember brum mentioning it but he said there was no evidence i think. He was quite dismissive and i think FS's hate us looking on the net second guessing them! lol

I have started to get a lot of brown spotting between cycles and even more so since i started ICSI. I was reading that asprin may help with that too but I think thats an age thing as its started to get worse as i get older!

I never spot but I've noticed the cycle messed me up with length of cycle and I got incredibly dry (sorry tmi!) for 3 weeks, it was horrendous.

God it all sucks really doesn't it!

Hi, asprin was mentioned by our FS at our follow up appointment following failed FET - I'm waiting for my protocol for 2nd ISCI cycle, I think they will be suggesting this, I can't see it would hurt as I sure you can take asprin as a pain killer during treatment but would defo seek advice before taking during treatment :hugs:

I would ask brumbar I'm sure she researched it a lot. I know ibruofen is a no no but I've def heard of girlies taking asprin.

Hey Angel

I spoke to my FS about the Aspirin. She was very encouraging and said research showed it helped womb lining and implantation. It must be baby aspirin though. You should start taking on the day of your 1st baseline scan and you should stop taking it on the day of your final injection and then start again 48hrs after EC.

Hope that helps:hugs:

I think I'm going to give it a go next time.

Thats brilliant spring - thanks for asking as im sure you had more important things to discuss!

Ohh and it needs to be 75mg.

No worries Angel, happy to ask and it's something I'm now seriously considering, which wouldn't have happened without your orginal question!

Ahh man, to late for me then! why don't all clinics tell us this!!

yea i read that baby aspirin was great for conceiving...i always mean to get some cause i wanna try it...but i always forget everytime we are at walmart...l0l
