hired a doppler which arrived today and was worried this would happen as im so anxious

think i found the HB in the end, my consultant found it yesterday so i put the probe in the same spot, it sounded like other babies HB that i have heard, but the LCD display on the monitor only recorded it at around 98bpm the whole time, which i know is way too low :nope:

i wondered if it was my HB I was picking up on so i tried it the opposite side in the same place and it didnt pick up anything. the only place I could pick it up was the same spot everytime.

why would it be this low? are these LCD monitors ever wrong? when i first got it i deliberately checked for my own HB to see the rate so it wouldnt confuse the two and it was saying mine was like 120 which I know is impossible, but when my mum checked her HB with me it was 70 which would be about right.

Im so confused and upset and wish id never used it as i knew i would end up worried, im now terrified something has gone wrong

I wuldnt reply on the monitor, Count the heartbeat youself hun. Dont panic youself and be patient with the doppler. x

i find the lcd display useless! just count how many beats you hear in 15 seconds and times it by 4 to double check! If it is yours, dont worry, i'm sure bubs will just be hiding since he'she still has lots of room to hide atm!

ah thank u ju bubbs u just answered what i was about to ask! x

that will be your HB hun, baby wil be moving about so more then likely wont be in the same place, id start under my belly button and then move love to my pubic bone .. your HB could be covering LO's x

Tink, I find Little Roo's HB about an inch/two inches above my pubic bone and towards the left (my left)... sometimes it's really quiet other times quite noisy so I guess it depends on where he's hiding :haha: He moves around a LOT too so I sort of have to chase him...

Sounds to me like you're picking up your own HB, so don't worry about it!! I couldn't find the HB properly until I was 16 weeks, after my midwife done it so I knew where to look!!!

Those bloomin dopplers, I think they do more harm than good. I kinda wish I never bought one.

thanks, im gonna have 1 more go with it and if i dont have any luck im sending it back, as im renting it. u are right they are more harm than good x

I never rely on my screen, if I want to know heart rate I always figure it out on my own. Good luck to you!

I had many a sleepless night over my bloomin doppler, I found the HB once at 12 weeks... then nothing til 16 weeks!! I got myself in a total stress every time I got the damn thing out. It's OK now, I guess cause Roo is getting bigger, but I really wish I hadn't bothered.

Try not to stress Tink - all will be well with your little one :baby:

well ive used it again and tried counting the HB and the monitor is right, it is around 98 bpm so it must be my HB i was getting.
i know its probably something simple like baby hiding but ive got myself in such a state and am now in tears and convinced something is wrong. im sending it back and wont try to use it again but wish to god id never used it, i knew this was a bad move :(

Aww babe im sure everything is fine as you said you only just had your appt. Thats the trouble with dopplers, people panic when they cant find something. I sometimes find it hard to find too. I didnt start picking up HB myself until I was 16 weeks mind x

jojo did u try before that and not get anything? im 15 weeks today but was sure id find something at this stage.
im now doubting what my consultant heard yesterday which i know is mad but he literally held the wand there for like 2 beats and then took it off, so how do i know that wasnt my HB he picked up on?
