So my husband has earned us a free trip to Disney World this summer through work. I'm obviously thrilled, until I really think of the logistics of taking a 1 year old and a 2.5 year old on a trip. They are both horrible sleepers - how will it work with us all in one room instead of having them spread out so they don't constantly wake each other up? Am I crazy for attempting this? I know they'll love the Disney World part - the older one loves animals and people and water and action, and the younger one is content to just hang on to me and look around at everything.

Anyone have a similar experience that went OK?

Do you have to stay in a hotel? I don't know anything about how this would work at Disney, but my husband and I travel quite a bit (albeit we only have one right now) and we tend to always get an apartment or house. Airbnb is great for this and there is another website often used in the U.S. (forget what it's called), but basically you can get apartments or house with multiple bedrooms for the same or less than you would a hotel room. Alternatively, some of the nicer hotels - if you get hotel paid for - have suites with separate bedrooms, so you can put the kids to bed and then still have a space where you can have a nice dinner alone and relax yourselves. Personally, we always sleep together in the same room, either in the same bed, or we get two double beds (and one of us sleeps with our daughter) or we get a toddler bed or mattress to put on the floor for her to sleep on. She never sleeps separately from us when we're traveling. It's a strange place and she doesn't sleep as well, so I don't see the point of getting no sleep just so we don't have to share a room. She sleeps well with us and it's easier to tend to her during the night. If you can't get anything but a hotel room, one that has a balcony or somewhere to sit outside in the evening is also a great option (ideally screened in FL in the summer, otherwise you'll be eaten alive by mosquitoes). We just put her to bed and then sit outside with dinner and drinks until we're ready to go to bed.

I was also just about to suggest Airbnb. We went on vacation with our 2.5 year old and our at the time 3 month old. We used Airbnb to find a condo so we each had our own room and it was actually significantly cheaper than a hotel.

We travel quite a lot with our sons (2.5 Year and 9 mo) .We try and get Hotel Apartment or a Suite (when we strike a nice offer ) and also request for an extra baby bed or cot .Like PP we all sleep together in one room but we do need that extra room space>> for they do a lot of monkeying around and also for us to have some quite time when they are asleep .

They both enjoy being outdoors and by the time we get back to our room they almost always sleep well after all the energy they spent the whole day .
My Traveling with Toddlers/Babies Tips are :
1.See if you can get a larger room with an extra baby cot, even better if you can get something like a serviced apartment .
2.If available go for rooms that have amenities like microwave , electric water kettle ( some even offer washing Machines) .These are a boon when you have to constantly sterilize baby stuffs or warm food and milk .
3.Make sure that toddlers have loads of fun and they are well hydrated throughout the day.
4.If they are not yet potty trained >Nappy Rash Creams Are a MUST .Since you never know how frequently you will be able to change them.An unnoticed nappy rash is often a cause for toddlers being fussy.
5.Use a Backpack Baby Nappy bag instead of the usual Messenger ones , as they are way easy to carry .And carry some extra baby food and juices & candies too among other baby essentials .

Being well Prepared Makes Traveling with Toddlers Fun and Stress Free
