i have had previous natural normal deliveries but my lasst birth ended in emcs im currently planning a vbac and i have been told by my consultant that i cant have an induction drugs due to previous section. Im abit upset as i really dont want another section and there saying i cant be induced if i go overdue
Has anyone had a vbac and been induced with a drip or pessary insert?
thanks in advance

When I was going to VBAC with my second child. I was told that the preferred method was a "balloon", without the aide of drugs. If I remember correctly a balloon like thing would be inserted and enlarged until your water broke. I'm sorry I can't actually recall the name of the instrument of procedure.

I was told the same thing after my emcs, so my OB swept my cervix and that made me go into labour and was able to have a successful VBAC.

thank you both. i have been told that if they can break my waters they will do that as close to due date as possible :)

Hope you get the Vbac that you want, I am also a VBAC hopeful xx

I have been told the same thing I'm afraid, but I will be ok with that because I don't want to be induced. I was induced last time and actually think that was why I needed EMCS, and I don't want to increase the risk of uterine rupture. I think the name of the procedure Dollposse described is the Foley catheter, I'll be asking for that if I go overdue as well as sweeps from 39 weeks. Fingers crossed you can get your vbac Hun!

I was induced by breaking my waters, it was very effective. I was told that the risks of scar rupture with sintocin are 0.8% vs. 0.5% without. My hospital would have used a small amount of sintocin to kick start labour.
