Hi,
Are there any other vegetarians out there TTC#1? A little about me: 31 years old, Vegetarian for 18 years, taking vegetarian prenatals, B12, B6, DHA. TTC#1 for 9 cycles now. I also have a relatively short cycle (average 25 days) with a short LP (average 9 days). Was on hormonal birth control for 10+ years. I've always been a little paranoid about the amount estrogen in all the soy I eat and worried it may impact fertility. :/
Anyone else here in a similar boat? I find lately I've been thinking about modifying my diet to be more soy free, while still eating high veggie based protein diet.
Anyway, just trying to keep positive during the TWW and looking for other vegetarians to chat with. :)
Thanks!

Hello. I'm also a veggie here and have been for 17 years. I don't eat a lot of soy as had read the same as you say about it affecting hormone balance so try to get my protein from cheese, nuts, pulses etc. I have the odd bit of soy tho as I just love the sausages!!
I have actually fallen pregant twice, but have lost both babies. I therefore don't actually think it has affected my ability to fall pregnant which I was so worried about at first.
My midwife said as long as you take your vitamins you should be okay.

I'm sorry for your losses. I think I'm starting to realize that my short LP may be a problem. Or I'm just impatient and want a baby!
Does your prenatal have enough B12 in it?

Yes my prenatal has loads of b12. My midwife said it was a good one so o trust her

Is there anything you could do to lengthen your lp? I've read other ladies on here saying that they take certain vitamins which help. I can't remember which Tho I'm afraid. I think it was a b vitamin though.

Hey :)

I'm also vegetarian (only 4 years) but I go vegan for at least 3-4 months a year (18 years now) ...

I don't eat any milk, occasionally I consume cheese and eggs. I don't think vegetarianism is bad for pregnancy. However, I was diagnosed with over reactive uterus NK cells which kill the baby and apparently the only "natural" way to tame these cells is by consuming high doze of fish oil, which im planning to start doing soon. I guess I won't be a 100% vegetarian once I start taking fish oil supplements but it seems to be the cheapest way to tame immunity problems :) hope it works

I'm also vit D deficient so taking 60 000 iU weekly now until it gets better...but even if you're not deficient you should still take vit d but not as much as I was prescribed :)

my cycle was also very short --> 26 days but after my miscarriage it changed to 28 days :)

I'm 35.

Hugs

Hi, I'm a vegetarian too! This sounds just like me! 3rd month of trying - 23 day cycle. Used OPKs and last month had two LH surges one early and one late. Worried also about short LP! Im on CD8 - how about you guys?

CD2 for me. I have a family history of women with PCOS (I haven't been diagnosed yet) and other general hormonal issues.

Just wanted to poke my head in and say hello :) Vegan for three years, TTC#1... on my 9th cycle. Currently in my TWW, 11DPO. I've been taking Rainbow Light vegan prenatal since we started TTC. And started Clomid this round (though I think it's probably useless, since I ovulate on my own.)

Nice to meet you ladies <3

Hi there, it's fun to meet other vegetarians (I do eat fish, so I'm in a little different boat I guess) that are trying to conceive their first! :)

Drinking soy milk, protein bars or drinks with soy supplements or other non-fremented soy is not a good idea because it can increase estrogen. However, everything I read is that fermented soy (tofu, miso) is just fine and has no effect on hormones.

I definitely do not think that a vegetarian diet negatively affects conception as long as you are eating well and getting a large variety of high quality nutrients from your food (and from a good prenatal). If you drink a lot of poor quality milk or poor quality factory farmed meat, you would be getting tons of harmful hormones from that.

Anyway, that's my opinion. I love cooking and learning about nutrition so I was excited to see your post :) Best wishes to you on your journey!

Hi there, do you mind if I ask how you got diagnosed with the killer cells in uterus? It is something I've been wondering about for myself as I've had multiple chemicals. But, the specialist said they are done with testing and I hadn't heard anything about that type of test or any other immune testing from her. How much fish oil are you supposed to take for it? It's interesting that fish oil helps combat that problem.
Thank you and best of luck to you! :)

Drinking raspberry leaf tea is one natural way a lot of people are able to lengthen their luteal phase as it strengthens and tones the uterus. You can find it at most grocery stores, especially ones that carry a lot of organic options. Some people take supplements of it, but I'd think drinking the tea would be better. It's an herbal tea (no caffeine) although it tastes like a black tea- It's delicious. I drink it during my period to lesson cramping. You should only drink it (about 3 cups a day) prior to ovulation as some people think the toning of the uterus it does could cause early miscarriage- there is a lot of debate on it, but why risk it. In the summer I used to make big batches of iced tea with it and it really helped my cramping a lot.
I've also heard of people drinking pomegranate juice as well but I'm not as familiar with it. Good luck! :)

Fingers crossed to all you girls trying...I'm ...well...we are waiting to try :/

Anywho, spirit bear, I love cooking and learning about food too :)

I was tested for lupus, and all the other immunological issues at my IVF clinic after 3rd unsuccessful IVF, they were wondering why implantation doesn't happen :/

I think the name of the cells is something like cd13 + 56 + but it could be other numbers, I can't remember it exactly and I'm too lazy too look through my old files for the print off. It's horrible to have it, testing is quite expensive to have it done every month and treatment is even more expensive as it's a intravenous immunoglobulin...

I'm just going to try without the tests and treatment and with only fish oil and gluten free diet this time :)

Fish oil should be 720 mg EPA + 280 mg DHA

Wow, I'm so sorry you've been through all of that, Kika- how awful. I hope that it all pays off very soon for you!! So immunology testing is not covered by most insurance, I take it? It seems odd to me that they would wait so long to do the testing instead of doing it upfront with the other testing- is that just because of how invasive and expensive it is?

My mother has lupus and so immune issues/testing has been in the back of my mind for a while now. Good luck this month with just the fish oil and gluten free diet- I hope it makes a big difference for you. I read a little online about the killer cells and fish oil after reading your post and it sounds really promising!

Sending you some positive thoughts!! :)
