I went in for a check up appointment at 12 weeks one day. At the end of the appointment, my doctor used the Doppler to listen to the heartbeat. She could not find it so she had me go into the ultrasound room. She showed us baby sleeping and the heart beating but did not measure the heart beat which didn't make sense to me .. what if baby's hb was dropping & that's why it couldn't be heard? I mean, I had a previous check up at 11 weeks & we found baby's hb on Doppler.

Then .. that same night my boyfriend & I decided to have sex .. Right after he pulled out, there was a bit of blood. It was a very small amount, almost looked orange. Then I spotted a few more times on his bed. The blood was very faded but I could not tell if it were red or just old blood.

Could this be the start of a misscarrage?

I forgot to mention that the 'spotting' only lasted for those three little spots. & it never got any heavier. . I'm just worried.

I really have not much info to give you but I would give your doc a call in the morning. It could be nothing. Try to relax, take it easy and call in the morning. hang in there

Try to relax, I'm sure if the dr was concerned he would have said something. The main thing is, you saw baby and the heart beating. Try to focus on that.

Spotting after sex is very common

Easier said than done, but try to relax :hugs:

If the doctor was concerned I am sure they would have let you know. But for peace of mind, give a call in the morning and they can ease your mind more than any of us could!

Also, I had spotting at about 10 weeks after intercourse and my OB assured me it is just fine and pretty common! She said as long as its for a short time and not heavy like a period then it is most likely irritation from your cervix.

Spotting after sex is normal and probably a coincidence...

Sorry but yohur doctor is a knob!
A hb shouldnt be attempted by a medical professional until 16 weeks on a doppler because u cannot hear it most of the time...

Dont stress give your doc or midwife a call and clarify your concerns witht them but im sure all is fine

Lots of ppl say spotting after sex is normal although it's never happened to me. As for the heart beat something like that happened in one of my pregnancies but everything was fine. Try not to worry but I know that's hard. See if se'll see you again and if not walk into the ER for the spottin and tell them your doc didn't get a heartbeat and you're concerned.

Sometimes I spot after sex even when I'm not pregnant! Spotting after sex is always normal -- unless it lasts for a while! So you're fine :)
