Hiya ladies,

I'm a single mama to a 10 month old boy, whom I love to bits  I have been looking into natural parenting for this last week and to be honest am so gutted I didn't find out about it sooner.

I've looked into cloth diapers, baby wearing etc. My only worry is him being too old. I'd love to give cloth diapers a go and have bought a few online but unfortunately have found it so pricey I'm sure it will take some time to save up for at least 5 or 6 nappies.

Babywearing I can see being an issue as I used to have a carrier when he was around 5 months old and he HATED his arms being tucked in so didn't want to be in it unless he wanted to go to sleep  Has anyone had this problem? If so, are there any types of carriers that allow him to have his arms out.. Despite him being a big lad.

I feel like it's too late to become a natural mummy :(

Would be great if there were any websites, articles etc that could help me on where exactly I can begin my journey to natural parenting.

Cloth nappies can be expensive new, some more than others. When I was building up my stash I bought very few brand new at full price, they were either second hand (there's a selling subforum linked at the top of the natural parenting section) or on special offer. What nappies have you bought and do they work well for you and your LO?

The mei tai type carrier would allow his arms out the sides. Not sure about it for bigger babies, but it's working well for my 13lb-er so far and I think I've read about people using them for bigger babies. The Ergo is highly recommended by many people, and I think that allows their arms out too.

littlelambs have a sale on some older stock at the moment for some pretty amazing prices.
The ergo can have the arms out but they can only face inwards and they are quite pricey.

Ergo is not just for front carry, it's used for back carry as well, just want to clarify :)

It's never too late (well unless you are 100% potty trained and have a 5 year old!). I wear my 16 month old (30+lbs) on my back in an ergo all day! :)

Here's my ergo with arms in & arms out to show you the difference. the ergo also allows you to have arms completely tucked in or through a side area. However at 10 months, you will want to have arms out anyways.

Are you still i London? The Real Nappies for London campaign gives you money towards buying cloth nappies. The amount varies depending which council you are with, but I'll send you a link to the options by PM.

It's definately not too late. My LO is almost 10 months and we are just starting out with cloth nappies. Luckily ebay cheapies work for us and everything else I have bought preloved.
