It seems to be that Lylah is the whingiest moany baby in the world. She has been breastfed since birth, with 2 bottles of formula given at night time, one dreamfed to her at 10-10.30 and another when she wakes at 3am (yes still lol)
I sometimes leave her to cry when she cries and she just does not stop. She wont self soothe everytime although occasionally she will exhaust herself and fall asleep. Then the other day I went to a funeral and my sister baby sat her, so I made her up some formula and gave to my sister if she needed it in the 2 hours I was away, and she did use it, and Lylah was a total joy all afternoon.
My question is, am I feeding her enough breast milk in the day? Im seriously considering supplimenting her a formula feed during the day too but I know its a slippery slope to forumla city, and I dont want to give up, but I also don't satisfy her with breast milk alone. Im stuck.

*i tried fenugreek, it increased the flow a bit but not enough to warrant the money spent on a bottle of pills.

Have you tried pumping to increase your milk supply? Not sure exactly how this works, but I'm sure Lisa (Mervsmum) will along shortly with an answer!!!

I have tried pumping, but the problem with that is having the time to do that as well as give her feeds. I did that in the early days and it ruled my life completely *feed pump feed pump* It got to the point where if I was invited out for the day I would decline due to not being able to pump while out, and I dont want it to rule my life. I just want ample supply to feed my baby wherever I am so she is satisfied. I also feel she isnt sleeping through the night due to not feeding enough during the day.
Thanks for your reply babe xxx

how often does she feed during the day? What about evenings? Babies tend to cluster feed in the evening so you may find yourself feeding 3/4 times between 5-and 11pm

I was gonna ask the same as Lilbump......Does she have a pattern??

She just feeds like she did when she was newborn, every 3-4 hours but only feeds for about 10-15 mins at a time. Even if I try to feed her longer she has sucked me dry lol. I googled it and they think she is just an efficient feeder but I dont know. Between 5-11pm she feeds probably 3 times, twice from me and then she goes up to bed at 8, and we come up at 10-10.30 and give her 7oz bottle which she drinks in her sleep. Then thats it til 3am when she will have another 6-7oz.

Do you think it could be teething or something rather than being hungry?? I think sh sounds to be feeding well.....

well I thought this as the other day she dribbled her way through 2 tops and knaws on her fist alot. I got her some teething powders from tesco pharmacy and popped them on her tongue, but it doesnt really seem to do alot. I also got her some cooler teething rings that you pop in the fridge but they are useless right now since she cant hold and put things in her mouth very well.

:(

Hebe just will not use any teething toys!! :hissy: Not interested. But she's a right whinge bag at the mo and it's just like she was the week before the first 2 broke through. Same time of day, just a proper grizzle grump :( She started with the dribbling then that stopped for a few weeks then the whining started....:dohh: She's laid on me NOW wittering.....I'm sure she's starting again.....:(

I agree with MM that feeding sounds okay to me.

Have you tried giving her a dummy just to see if that settles her? MY daughter doesn't like her teething toys apart from 1 item; https://www.elc.co.uk/toy/musical-keys/. Insotre they have pink ones for a girl x

Thanks ladies, well she already uses a dummy, an orthodontic tommee tippee one which does soothe her just not always.
Do you think it worth me buying some teething gel ?
Should i suppliment her 1 extra formula feed during the day to see if its that she is hungry?
xxxx

Mayb worth trying a different kind of dummy? Maybe she just doesn't like that one?

I use boots teething gel or dentinox gel during the day and ashtons powder at night when it's bad.

Not sure about the feed myself sorry x

I used Nelsons powder - not tried the gels as I find the powder works well.

Does she whinge straight after a feed or after a while?
If I'm home with Isaiah I'll be very lucky to go more than 3hrs between feeds in the day, maybe try offering her breast after a couple of hours rather than supplement with a formula feed? (He goes longer when we're out or if someone else is looking after him too, greedy boy!)

Have you tried giving more OZ at your 10:00 dream feed. Alfie is BF all day sometimes he will have 3 sometimes 6 but come 7:00pm he as a 9oz formula feed and that's him done for the night until 5:30-6:30am. I started giving a FF during the day and soon regretted it as he wasn't feeding off me as much so changed back and just had to deal with him feeding off both boobies until my normal rotine came back. Hope she settles down soon :hugs:

She was whingey before i changed her dums a few days ago, so i dont think its that. I will try and give her more boob in the day but after 2 hours they have not filled back up much so she doesnt suck for long and gets frustrated. She gets upset about 10 mins after 2 feed like she has just realised she is hungry still and would gladly latch back on to try again, i also wind her well too, I might try an extra oz at night time, and see how we go. Thanks so much ladies. X x x

Dont forget you might not 'feel' like they fill after 2 hours now as you are getting to the point where they will no longer 'fill and empty' - the milk will be made on demand. Mine never feel full anymore.

This going to sound completely crazy, but the only thing Oliver will bite on for his teething is...................................a wooden spoon from the kitchen :dohh:!!! I have had to buy myself a new one! Just try some totally random things that aren't for teething and I'll put money on you findins something she likes!!

LOL I will try the spoon! I will try her on anything right now im desperate! She has been ok today but there is always tomorrow
xx
