"Viability" scan at 6w5ds?

Hi my doctor wants me to come in at 6w 5ds to see if the pregancy is viable. Isn't this too early? What if he's not able to see what he needs to see because it's too early?

Hey hun, I have to have a rescan next wednesday, ill be 6 weeks..
I had a scan today as ive been having pains, all they saw on scan was an empty sac
This week wait is gonna be awful
Just hope everything is ok x

I went in at 6w1d and we were able to see the heart beat! They will be able to see what they are looking for

That does seem quite early. Not TOO early though, they should at least be able to confirm the location of the baby. But if he doesn't see what he needs, he'll have you come back in a few days/a week or so and try again.

I'm having a 'viability' scan tomorrow...I'll be 12+2, and have been listening to the HB on the doppler for over 2 weeks But at least I get to see baby - there's no sign of my 12-week scan appointment yet

our baby was 6+5 when we had a scan.
could see baby was in right place and had lovely hb. good luck x

I had a scan yesterday at 7+1. Baby measured exactly 7 weeks and it was easy to see the heartbeat and everything even with an abdominal scan.

I had a viability scan today at 6w2d they just looked for fetal pole and heartbeat.

It was a huge relief to see the heartbeat.

I've got my scan on Friday (I think I will be 6 weeks and 2 days) so nervous incase they can't see anything.
The reason for my early scan is because I was being seen by the fertility clinic and its a chlomid baby

If you ovulated later there is a good chance you may only see a fetal pole/yolk sac and that is OK....usually by the middle of 6 weeks the heart starts beating.

I had a scan at 6 weeks with my previous pregnancy and we saw heartbeat flickering away. So hopefully you will. Fingers crossed for you

By 6 weeks there should be a beating heart that's what they want to see! I saw my sons at 6+0 and this bean 6+2.

It starts about mid 6th week and if you ovulated later it could be the end of the 6th week. We went when I thought I was 6 weeks 4 days, but I ovulated later so measured 4 days behind (6 weeks)....there was a sac and yolk sac. Went back when I should be 7 weeks 4 days, measured 7 weeks on the dot and a healthy little bean!
