Six months ago, my hubs and I started TTC. Unfortunately we had to stop TTC right away because I developed pelvic pain and had to figure out what was wrong before we ended up pregnant and something awful happening.

So here we are, and I finally think we have figured out the problem - endometriosis. I don't know what stage yet, and it's not a confirmed diagnosis, but it's a theory (a pretty strong one). I'm scheduled for laparoscopic surgery August 10th...

Everything I've read suggests you are more likely to conceive after the laparoscopy and they clear out the bad tissue, so we are WTT until after my surgery.

Anyone have any words of encouragement? Experience with this procedure/diagnosis?

I'm so nervous I could puke.:sick::help:

It's okay to be nervous. But it is a very simple day surgery. You are under general anaesthetic. You should have two small incisions, one in the belly button and one above your pubic bone. You will be advised not to lift anything for about 14days. I had this procedure done nearly two years ago now, and I've felt normal ever since. I hope this helps :)

Thanks Tiffany! Did you have your child before or after your procedure?

Good luck bonniebeams. I had one three years ago. I had three incisions - one through the belly button and one either side above the pelvic bone. The incisions are tiny and the scars heal quickly.

Expect to feel sore and bloated for a long time afterwards. Even if you look healed from the outside, it might take a while for your insides to start to feel back to normal, but don't worry, they will heal eventually. Have a loose dress to wear home afterwards (you'll be incredibly bloated for a while) and my hubby brought a pillow for me to lean on in the car which helped.

If you have any questions throughout the process, feel free to ask. Hope it all goes smoothly for you x

I've had several laps done for endo. It's not too bad the first one was the worst though. I am still wtt and do worry about whether it will affect ttc. My Doc told me a baby might help with the endo as it will come back so if you can I would advise ttc straight after you heal from your surgery. Good luck!

That's my plan MssN8!! I just hate the pressure and timing and the stress it causes. Everyone is so quick to tell you that stress is bad for conceiving, it's like, YES thank you that's just what I needed to hear. Now I can be stressed about being stressed!!

Why was the first one the worst??

My best friend had bad endometriosis. Her and her OH never used protection in 17 years of being together and she never got pregnant. She had laparoscopic surgery for her endometriosis and was pregnant 6 months later. They now have a two year old little girl.

Good luck!

I think it's because I had a lot of done during the surgery as I was very sore beforehand for years and all the docs I see kept saying it must be thrush but I knew it was something else but wasnt until i saw a specialist she diagnosed me for endo. You will be fine and see after I healed it helped with pain for a good wee while

jessmke that is amazing! I'm hoping for similar results!

I'm counting down the days until this procedure. These painful periods are THE WORST.

Just a personal update: I had my procedure last week, and instead of endometriosis like I had expected them to find, they found a severely inflamed appendix that was basically glued to my bowel from scar tissue. Turns out my appendix has been chronically inflamed, probably for years.

I'm still healing, the gas pains in my shoulders was the absolute worst. But I remembered what you ladies had said and got through it okay.

Now on to the baby making!
