LO is still waking every 2 hrs in the night and won't settle till she's had a feed.

Please advise me cos I need sleep, I have a toddler who doesn't want to sleep during the day so I can't catch up on what I've missed in the night.

There is a major growth spurt at 6 mnths hun. It affects sleep & feeding. BF babies tend to cluster feed during growth spurts. It takes few days to settle. If u express, I'd suggest giving her a bottle with EBM before bedtime to avoid cluster feeding. BFing moms can give u better advise, but this is all what I can think about. xx

How long do these growth spurts go for cos she's been doing this for about 2 weeks now. YAWN!! lol

I'm worried about letting her cry at all in case she wakes the toddler who would be up for hours screaming unless I let her in my bed - where she will treat it as a bouncy castle!

I EBF and found that an additional bottle of expressed milk would do the trick lots of the time. In fact, one or two of the nights, DS gulped down a full 8 oz!!

ETA: In addition to growth spurts, it could be she's more wakeful if she has reached new milestones or is about to reach one...or if she's teething.

When you do feed her before she goes back down, does she nurse for a typical nursing session or just 5 min or so?

looooool. Omar has been doing the bouncing on my bed thing since he was 2 mnths old. I dont know when he will get over it. It depends on ur baby, our 9 mnth growth spurt lasted for 1 mnth! We had to change his bedtime routine, & included playtime after his bath, & we had to divide his bedtime bottle to 2, one before playing & one after he's finally exhausted & ready to go to bed. I also started offering him dinner close to bedtime, to make sure he doesnt wake up for an extra bottle at night. He was also teething, so it wasnt easy. But it finally settled & he went back to sleeping through not waking up for bottles or playing. xx

When Harry went through his last growth spurt I was advised to offer him a feed every two hours during the day too. Unfortunately I only sought advice after 3 weeks and decided to move to combi feeding as I was so exhausted.

That reminded me - we ended up giving 6-9oz of extra EBM at bedtime around that age.
:hugs:

We're just getting through the 9 month one... just when you think you can relax a little it all kicks off again

She normally feeds for 2/3 mins if that in the night now. Apart from around 4am where she has a proper feed.

We had a minor breakthrough last night, she rolled over onto her tummy when I took her to bed and then slept from 11.30 till 4 which is the longest in weeks that she's slept.

Im in exactly same boat as you and my wee man is pretty much same age as your LO. Hes went from going 7-7 to being up every hour. Tho i dont feed him, i put dummy in and normally that or a quick cuddle does the trick. Jenson too has rolled over this last week for the first and also is near sitting up by himself. No advise but ur not alone

Im trying not to feed her now cos i think she's just waking out of habit cos she eats ALOT during the day AND solids. She can't be hungry, esp if she's just having a few suckles and falling back to sleep.

thats exactly why i dont feed him at night either as im afraid to form a habit of it, he was sleeping rite through from 10 weeks. Lets just hope it passes quickly then, until they reach the next growthspurt lol

i have the same problem. my HV advised me to feed at 11pm, 3am and 6am and not in between (that was his pattern til a few weeks ago)

I'm trying to do that but the problem I have is she screams so loud I'm worried she'll wake theolder child.

my daughter is 28 weeks and has gone from sleeping 12 hours to waking up lots. Been going on 4 weeks now. Dont think its growth spurt as she is no more hungry during the day. I think its teeth. Could it be teeth for your lo x

Erm.. it could be but she's been drooling and chewing on everything since she was more or less born so it's hard to tell whether anything is different. Although I have noticed she was alittle red cheeked today (which could be to do with her cold of course!! lol)

We managed to get more sleep last night.

Have started not letting her sleep after 5pm and also not waking her for a dream feed when I go to bed.
