Did anyone see that story in the news about the baby who had the dummy tapped to his face in hospital?? Well when I read that I actually, for a split second, thought "I can see why they done it" now I obviously don't really think that is anything anyone should do but I am so tired and its because my little monkey has been waking up anything from 10-50 times a night for her dummy to be put back in,
She'd do anything from start fussing and searching to full blown waking up screaming. We settle her at 5pm and by 7 we've been up maybe 5-10 times to replace her dummy and it just goes on like that all night I thought maybe she was hungry so I'd tried feeding her but still 20 minutes later she'd be fussing for her dummy
So 3 days ago I ditched the dummies, we got up in the morning and I cut the end off of every single dummy in the house, I've switched her nap times so she goes down at bottle time. I take her upstairs and feed her 4oz then wind her and put her in her cot with her mobile on and her bunny for comfort, then feed her the last 2oz with my hand patting her chest gently. It took 2 days to get her to settle but now she is like a different baby. She's still having a feed at 11 and 4 but I don't mind that at all as she self settles after and I'm getting a decent bit f sleep in between
Sorry for the huge post I just wanted to let people in the same situation know that it's not as bad as you think to ditch the dummy and although we give it to them to settle I think it makes them more restless and dependant, it certainly didn't help Maycie and I won't be giving one to the new baby.
