Of ffs.. this is ONE particular sling make/brand that has now been recalled. Not all of them are dangerous,. in fact, the majority of baby carriers/slings are very very safe!!

and while this baby survived.. surely this shows that prams can be just as dangerous if people arn't careful!

I have just written to GMTV and they have now changed their news report!! They were showing clips of all slings when ion fact this is 1 type of sling (and a very incommon one here)!! I will say to you all what I said to them

I am an avid GMTV watched but this morning I was very disappointed with one of your features in the news and felt I needed to state why. You showed a piece about a specific type of baby sling being recalled due to the unfortunate deaths of 3 babies in USA. I am glad this info was reported by you, however, as a sling wearer, I was very shocked to see you using pictures/clips of other slings/carriers that are perfectly safe. Sling wearing is benefical to both mother and baby and people who are uneducated about sling wear will now, no doubt, choose against using them themselves and proceed to tell opthers how dangerous slings are after seeing this film.
I would urge you in future to please think about this before showing such clips.

The only slings affected are certain Infantino slings. Unfortunately the one i have is one of the models being recalled. I just completed the online form and they are offering replacements, you get a couple to choose from. I opted not to get another sling or carrier from them and chose a bag instead. I just don't think i trust the company anymore as this is the second recall. You have to cut part of the sling and send it to then in an envelope they send out to you to ensure there's no further use of the defective product.
I won't be put off buying another baby carrier or sling from another manufacturer though

I get told off all the time now for wearing a sling, and I wear a moby wrap and the baby is upright I try to tell people that I have looked into it and the type of sling I am using is safe but they just tut at me and tell me to put him in a stroller.

I have been considering making one saying "Bog off, old ladies" for a while now.....

When my daughter was days/weeks old I used a babasling until she got a bit too heavy for me and then I switched her to a Baby Bjorn and use it alot. However, I have never had any negative comments from anyone, in fact I always have people coming up to me and cooing over her and they seem to like the fact that she is a sling. I am surprised that people get so many negative comments when I have nothing but positive comments/actions from other people.
