DH and I were out shopping yesterday at a huge outlet mall. At an adidas store, there were about 3 or 4 kids RUNNING around and i mean full speed ahead, grabbing soccer balls and random items while chasing each other. The store was crowded with shoppers. I was looking at a shirt for hubby minding my own business standing still and this one kid slams into my belly hitting it hard with his shoulder right where my mini baby bump is and doesn't even apologize and actually looked at me like I was in his way. I was already in lower back pain beforehand so I told him to stop running and that a store isn't a playground. Another shopper even said "yeah, watch your kids lady" His mom even scowled at me Was I wrong????

nope! absolutely not! I would have done the same thing.

If a kid was acting like that in a store especially running into me, I would've FLIPPED. So you were very much in line, because I guarantee I would've been worse.

Thanks to my pregnancy hormones I probably would have had some nasty words for the mother!
Don't feel guilty, she should be controlling her kids!

I don't see a problem with what you did. I'm a teacher so my "teacher voice" comes out when I'm in public if I see kids running around acting like little $hi*s

oh hun you were deff in the rights to say something. Imagine if you were acually carrying your baby and he ran into you causing you to drop or something your baby. You i think were alot nicer then i would have been. Good for you though for speaking up

Hell No! Unfortunately some people dont care and let their kids run wild and do whatever they want. If my daughter ever ran into someone like that I'd be so embarrassed that I hadn't been watching her better. I have no problem bitching people out for not watching their kids.

Well I was going to yell at the mom to watch her damn kids but she turned around and my hubby was coming from the back of the store... He's rather protective and I didn't want him to get involved. Would have ended badly. I was just rather shocked and I always think of the good zingers after the fact :(

i dont blame ya for saying something, i would have been mad too!

Exactly! My teacher voice comes out in public too, and I really think you were in the right to say something! I mean he literally ran into you! I'm glad you are ok!!!

I would have gone ballistic! seriously!you did well to stay so calm.

You were definitely in the right to say something.. Yes kids will be kids but its the parents responsibility to control or remove them from a situation like that

I'd actually be happy if someone else told my children not to run around in a store. Some kids wont listen to their mother all the time, but if a complete stranger gets cranky at them, it seems to pull them into line. As long as you didnt swear at or threaten them then you were completely in line!

you were totally within rights to say something, i would have and i would have said something to the mother!
what amazes me is the mothers attitude! for starters my kids wouldnt have been allowed to run around the store but if they had and they had ran into someone i would have a) bought them over to apologise and b) apologised profusely myself!
people wonder why kids grow up with no respect these days, sheesh!

sorry you had to go through that xox

I'm pretty sure I would have done the exact same thing, especially if the kid ran full speed into my belly. Kids running around like that irritate me on a normal day, but add me being ultra protective of my stomach right now and I'm not sure I would have been as nice as you were.

I would have done the same. I would be in a bit of a shock and probably managed a 'Hey!' and grabbing my bump. Yeah, like you, I can only think of better things to say after it's all done and gone.

You were in the right!! I would have flipped if a kid would have ran into me and my bump my baby boys well being is far too important for some out of control kid to potentially harm, you handled it a lot better than I would have I think..

I would have done the same thing, especially since my bump is a little sensitive and he doesnt like thinks hitting him lol.
I can not stand going somewhere and women letting their kids run wild! My little boy would have gotten in a crap load of trouble. Seems like these days alot of parents around here dont even teach them manners anymore.

Think you were pretty restrained, I would have told him off and told him I was pregnant into the bargain. I have a 4 1/2 year old, who knows that the place for running is the park or the garden and not shops or restaurants. He's pretty well behaved, but if he ever behaves badly after a warning, he gets taken home. The mother should have been ashamed of herself. I would have been mortified and insisted DS apologised to you.
