i know its second time round for me but i feel like its the first..

Is everyone washing all the new baby clothes/vests? it seems a bit pointless if they are all brand new? whats everyone else doing?

I have because I noticed some of them smelt quite 'chemically' and wanted them to smell nice and be soft....plus you don't know who has been touching them....

I plan to! Only because I bought some from ebay and even though they said they were new I'm not 100%...

So should I be using a special washing powder / tabs / conditioner?? I assume non bio!

I did the reason that people touch them all day and want them smelling homely and be soft and not so stiff... I used Fairy non bio tablets x

i think anything as long as its non bio, and comfort pure or something along those lines.. i personally think the fairy softer smells best xx

I used fairy non bio too, love the smell!

If i go missing from the living room my OH finds me in LO's room smelling her clothes lol!! Love the new wash smell

With my first child i washed everything i bought first, will do that again. I just think you have to be so careful with newborns...

I have washed all mine as I want baby to be comforted by everything smelling the same from day 1.

I've washed everything-toys,bibs,socks,vests,muslin sqs,clothes....I used non bio fairy washing tablets and fairy softner. Once ironed everything looks as new as it did off the hanger. Some items I got I had to salvage off the shop floor as it was the last in the size I wanted so even if it was hung up you never really know if it's been on the floor and stood on by a germ ridden shoe or some child pawing at it with snotty fingers lol x

Yep, I've washed all mine in Persil Small and Mighty non bio and Fairy Naturals fabric conditioner. Now I just can't wait until she's here to wear everything.

I've washed 3 drawers full!!! All of it was my son's it's been in bin bags for the last 4 years so think it needed freshening, smells good enough to eat now!!!

im washing everything, even if its in sealed packets, the have a chemical smell to them which isnt nice

yep i will be...then i know they are clean to my standard...god knows who's touched them xxx

I started mine last week... Just the fact had nice weather to hang them out

ill be washing mine when i go on maternity leave (4 weeks today:happydance:) that way i will be kept busy - i want to wash them now so that they are done but dont have the time:(

I always wash new baby clothes, you don't know what chemicals and environment they have been exposed to in factories etc and it just seems kinder on babie's skin. I never wash my own new clothes or my older kids, only for my LO's.

i have washed all mine so that they smell nice and as others have said if they have been on a hanger in a shop anyone and everyone could have touched them!!

I washed all LO ones in bold as i am allergic to everything else and wanted to be able to hug baby!!

xx

i always wash any new clothes - mine, hubby's and lo's. as others have said you never know where they have been / what has happened to them / who has touched them in the shop, warehouse etc. it also makes them smell nicer and feel softer. i've just done mine as i've got them, although it would have been lovely to have done a wash with just baby clothes and seen the washing line all full of his little things! i think you just need to make sure you use non-bio detergent and nothing with too strong a fragrance, so that it hopefully won't irritate baby's delicate skin.
