Hey just thought i'd give a heads up to those of you with up coming scans....

Had my appointment for my 12week scan today.
Arrived at the hospital, went to the reception desk and told them my name.
then she asked for my Notes....Uh oh!

Yep i had left them at home on the kitchen counter!](*,)

So she said Legally they could not touch me even though i had my appointment letter and i.d on me :(

Now have to wait until monday morning for my scan.

Didn't help the fact that i still dont have a Red maternity notes book, so i just have all the bits of paper stapled together.

Oh no hun! at least Monday's not too long to wait x

How frustrating!! A pregnant friend of mine did the same with a blood test - forgot to take her notes and got sent away. At least they can see you on Monday rather than having to wait for ages.

I mistook my appointment for a Friday when it was supposed to be on Thursday. Was driving to the hospital and decided to check my appointment card. Had to wait another 2 weeks to get a slot with my Doc. Hmph.

I did this with my 20 week scan (second one because baby wasn't in the right position for the first)....but they scanned me anyway....I suppose it depends on the authority.

Ohh no !! Sorry hun! I did the exact same thing on Weds! But luckily I remembered half way there so turned back  made us a lil late but meh!

I know im only 6 weeks but i havent had any notes yet and have an appointment for my scan in 2 weeks im guessing the notes are about blood tests and things but just wondering

You should get your notes at your booking in appointment - well, I did anyway! and that was only last week

You usually get them at the booking in appt? They have all your info on them, address/next of kin/preferences/blood results/health history etc etc

I was given a Bounty Pregnancy Information Pack at my booking in which is full of good stuff - books (one is a brilliant NHS produced reference guide from conception to birth and beyond!), leaflets, coupons etc which are removed and then you use the folder to keep your notes in. If you haven't had one I would ask your midwife, not just because its a useful folder to keep notes in, but for all the deals and goodies you are missing out on!! You also get another 2 Bounty packs as you go on, one later in Pregnancy and one should be given to you by the midwife after the birth but before you go home. PM me if you would like more details :)

My notes are yellow but I suppose they can vary from hospital to hospital. Mine basically consists of a booklet which details my name, DOB, NHs no, NOK etc. Then it has tick pages for your allergies, general tick test health questions such as do you smoke, ever had a history of heart problems, asthma etc. then its just got lots of pages to record what your midwife discusses with you, questions you have asked, general info about your pregnancy such as any sickness or problems you have experienced which is all filled out by the midwife throughout your pregnancy. You take them to EVERY pregnancy related appointment though because each different consultant whether it be a sonographer at a scan, Gynae or midwife will document the outcome of each appointment you have.
You should also get given scan booking forms which your midwife will submit as required, blood forms, and a prescription payment excemption form which they sign and you send off to get a card which says you no longer have to pay for your meds. Hope this helps :)

I never got my note book yet just the pages with all my info on them.
i got a crappy bump magazine and bloods paper work and thats it.
Was told i'd get my proper red book at the hospital but today was told they were still out of stock! :(

Bounty pack in my part of essex apparently gets given at the 12wk scan, but i'm sure if you forget to ask you wont get one!

Emma's diary website is worth joining as you get goodie bags on their too.
I've just printed my voucher off for my mum to be and bump to baby packs that can be collected at argos or llyods pharmacys. xxx

Oh no! Well, at least your scan is Monday and weekends tend to go by fast! :)

Are the notes just a UK thing? I have a scan in a couple of weeks (from ohio), and I don't have any form of paperwork to take with me....

Basically notes record everything you have discussed, blood test notes etc... Its like a diary of your pregnancy,

I guess since here u never see the same person twice its very handy to have, also I guess in general it is great for any appointment u have, as u can always read back to see what docs have told u, and also very handy when u r planning birth.

Hope this helps!

Uh not over here with the NHS, My new mw looked as though she didnt know what she was doing on the computer- terrible really!!
They do keep some bits on there as this time round 3rd pregnancy (but only 2nd progressing) i was not asked about family history or about any medical history about my family or partner- so i guess they still have all that info.

I think the notes system must be different in different parts of the UK - I got my notes pack when I went to the doctor in week 5 (for confirmation!) then the Bounty pack from my midwife when I first met her in week 8. But the notes are clearly 'Gloucestershire Health Authority' so I assume might well be different in different areas.
