Water blisters for pain relief

Anybody heard of this? Looking at my hospital website I see that they offer these for pain relief in labour, wondering if they would be any good.

looked it up and all I can find is info on water blisters being a blister filled with clear fluid....I'm pretty sure that's not what your talking about..

Its an injection of sterile water into the back, I'm not sure but I think its supposed to work by stimulating the endorphins like TENs does
