GENDER: Masculine
USAGE: English
PRONOUNCED: DAW-sən
Meaning & History: From a surname meaning "son of DAVID".

Do you think "Dawson's Creek" has ruined this name? I still like it for boy or girl actually.

I like it. I don't think Dawsons Creek has ruined it, although it did initially make me think of the show. I wouldn't let that put you off though. Not sure where you are from but my little boy is called Jarvis and initially I thought, as did a few others, of the singer (in the UK) called Jarvis Cocker but I don't ever think of that now and neither do family or friends.

We might get the odd comment but nothing negative and really not that often. I think Dawson would be the same.

I guess I think of it as a boys name. Could be good as a girls name but I think I'd prefer it for a boy personally.

If you love it, go for it!

I like it! I didn't think of Dawson's Creek until you mentioned it so I don't think it's ruined it at all. I prefer it for a boy, I think it's really handsome x

I like it! My sons called Dante and we get the whole Dante's peak thing! It's not a negative comment just an association. Most names have an association so I don't think if be too bothered. I actually really like it the more I think about it xx

I did think Dawsons creel when I saw it but I don't think that's necessarily a bad association. That show was soo long ago that no one your childs age will probably have heard of it.

I have a Bella so you can imagine how many 'fan of twilight?' Comments I get. Funnily enough never watched the film! I just smile and say no.

I really like it and i wouldn't have even thought of Dawsons creek.

I thought of Dawsons Creek straight away but I don't think that's a bad thing. I still like the name!

I thought I'd Dawson's Creek but then I'm a huge fan and these days lots of people won't even remember it. Better than pacey anyway!lol

I did think of Dawson's Creek, but your kids' friends won't. I don't think it would be an issue.

I also like it better for a boy than a girl.

I must say that as a teacher, I've had two Dawson's and they've both been little terrors. I think that's coincidence - it seems objectively like a nice enough name - but it elicits a bit of an adrenaline response from me!

I like it - cute! I do think of Dawson's Creek but new generations wont, and it's not a bad association.
