Wedding dress (waist) measurements?

I've found my perfect dress second hand from the internet. The thing is, it is a size 8 but has been taken in at the waist a few inches (therefore it can be let out again!). The girl however says it is 21" waist!

21"!

I thought I was slim - 26" waist on a good day! Waiting to hear back on how much give is in the seams so i can let it out enough!

I just need to check - the waist measurement, is this the slimmest part on your middle, kind of above your belly button? Do wedding dress sizes follow this rule?

Just check though if you do get it let out that the material is such that it wont show previous stitching (if u get me) e.g. satin can leave marks where its been sewn. I good seamstress will be able to advise
