were a week and a half thru our second attempt at potty training. i think we just have to keep going with this atm even tho its proving painfully slow but im sure well get there.
ive suddenly realised tho that next week we have a family wedding and my LB has a special outfit to wear. i can envisage him wearing this fancy and expensive outfit for all of 5 minutes as hell get caught up in the excitment and have an accident. i dont want to put him in a nappy but can u see my predicament???

its easy at home, i can change him into anything or just let him run around in pants but i dont have a heap of fancy trousers appropriate for a wedding.

im worried using a nappy after so long will wreck everything weve achieved so far.

what would u do???

Hmm! Think I'd put nappy on over pants, so he'll still feel wet if he wees. I'd say no nappy but if you think an accident in a posh outfit is likely...

Pull-ups? Like pants but.. not? could that work?

I don't think it will ruin it as long as you talk to him and explain that he's only having a nappy on "just in-case" and that you would still like him to use the potty/toilet.
I do this with my boy sometimes when we're going out into town etc, and more often than not he will tell us he needs a wee/poo and ask us to take him to the toilet.

Everything is dependent on the child's personality though so do what you think is best x

I think personally if it was us back at that stage, I'd have put a pullup on Sophie but explained to her that it's not really a nappy, it's just like pants and she still has to tell me if she needs a wee. I have done that for her at ballet every week since she has been out of nappies, just put it on for the time she's in ballet and then put her back in her pants again and it hasn't done her any harm. I was like you, worried that she'd get caught up in the excitement and forget that she didn't have a nappy on. I'm going to try today at ballet without a nappy. She's been dry for a month now and hasn't ever had an accident while we've been out (touch wood!) so I feel more confident now! I agree with mum2bclaire that putting pants on underneath is a good idea then he'd still feel wet if he did wee but wouldn't ruin his outfit. xx

I would get some pull ups and call them wedding pants.

I've never used them myself but there are such things as training pants which are like pants with a layer of terry wadding in them. They will still feel like pants but will save a change o trousers if he has an accident. I think you can get them in mothercare.

You can also get some pads called 'dry like me' that stick onto normal pants - not sure how absorbant they are but they're not dear and Tesco sell them so may be worth checking them out :)

I wouldn't risk it, I would use a pull up but in turn, be more consistant in asking if he needs to go to the bathroom.

Good luck!
