We have been using Detinox and oil on evies cradle cap but nothing has shifted it.

Last night she was really scratching her head and this morning it was very red and weepy and now her hair has stuck to it

It doesn't seem to be bothering her now but is there anything I put on it?

Do you have a baby hair brush? We put olive oil on LOs head at night and it looked like it hadnt done anything til we brushed it against the grain with the hairbrush and it all flaked off..

Ohh poor little soul :hugs: I would suggest u take her to see a GP or HV to have something prescribed just to eliminate any infection Etc x

Oh poor thing...:flower:

I would take her take her to the docs hun as eczema can start as weeping cradle cap just to be on the safe side..:hugs:

She HAD very dry skin on her arms recently which has cleared up

my lo - exactly same - please be aware of the olive oil and brush thing, i tried this - it did not help my lo but every baby is different. My lo was like yours i used dentinox for bout 2 weeks, it would look better after washing it, but bad again in morning, tried e45, aquous, everything, he then got patches on his elbows and back of his knees - he has een diagnoesed eczema, please go see your gp. he gave me some cream which has done wonders for my lo xxx

Aw thats looks sore, I would take her to the docs too before you put anything else on it just in case it irritates it some more xx

Definatley go and see GP....my LO had that all over her head, my HV kept fobbing me off..telling me to just use water. In th end the doc gave me some Ketanacozole shampoo and Fucidin for the inflamed area's. I know people are wary of putiing steriod creams on babies but sometimes they just need them. It never came back after.

Aww that looks very sore. It does look like eczema to me and not cradle cap. I get eczema on my scalp myself and it's terrible. Take him to your GP hun, they might be able to help.

Also, which shampoo are you using? I might think about changing to something milder if I were you, because it could also be your shampoo causing it. When I use certain shampoos they really set me eczema off. :hugs:

Typical I can't get an appointment today!

We use dentinox and johnsons baby shampoo (not together, every few days will use one then the other at the next hair wash)

She is still scratching :(

aw poor baby looks really sore =(

with regards to the johnsons shampoo maybe hold off using it as it might make it more sore iykwim it might have fragrance and perfume in which dont help really.

i hope it gets better for her :hugs:

<3

Firstly, I am sooooo sorry for calling your baby "him", I'm very tired, my LO slept for one hour last night and is still going strong!!

Secondly, some people find Johnsons products too strong for their babies, because they're scented. Dentinox could be the same, I'd imagine, on someone with sensitive skin. Johson products gave my LO very dry skin until she was about 18 months old. This is quite good, but obviously very expensive! One bottle will last a long while though given you only really need a very small amount on LO's. This worked quite well for us though, it's cheaper but still very mild.

Realy hope you can get her an appointment soon hun, it looks so sore :( x

My son has awful cradle cap. I bath him in oilatum oil and wash his hair with cradle cap shampoo.i also put on cetraben cream (from gp) for when its bad and baby oil when is better.I also use a product called Aveeno cream on his dry skin.

He now has amazingly soft skin and is cradle cap free.he still gets flare ups but no where near as bad.

hugs to your little one xxx

ooooh that looks sore. Im not sure that may be just cradle cap hun.

I would take your LO to the GP for advise and some medication to help clear it up. x

Johnsons shampoo made my sons worse, and the dentinox didn't shift it. The doc gave me some capinol? It stinks to high heaven but really helps. The doc gave me steroid cream to clear it up and the HV (at the same clinic) told me not to use it due to steroids and just use aqueous. This made him worse!!! My doc went mad. Told me to use steroid cream til it had got better and have given me oilatum for bath, shampoo, and some deprobase emmolient. Sons skin not quite 100% yet but a hell of a lot better. Big hugs to your lo, that must be driving her mad xxx

Thanks all for replies managed to get an appoitment for 4pm today

It's a little smelly too so I'm glad we are being seen today

And to the poster who said 'him' lol dont worry, Evie had a pink coat on at the weekend and some said "isn't he handsome"

Glad you're getting her in with the doc..it looks so sore! Poor baby girl.

My ped prescribed advantan cream for LO's cradle cap and it went within days...I couldn't bring myself to do the scraping thing.

No advice chick but give her a cuddle from me wee soul xxx

We got some anti fungal/steroid cream to use for 2 weeks and then a follow up appointment after that.

Fingers crossed it works :)
xx

Thats great..Did the doc say what it could be? :flower:

Also, My LO has eczema and I had no idea it was eczema until last week. She used to get VERY dry skin patches on her body and I just thought it was dry skin. It cleared up, then 3 weeks later, came back, and now keeps coming back every few weeks, so maybe watch out for it again as I know you mentioned your LO had what looked like dry skin...Good Luck and I hope the cream works for her..xx
