Hes still not gaining anything :( There was only a little gain noted as he had a feed whilst the mw was here so she got an idea of how much hes feeding but hes still under his birth weight.

Mw wants me to try and feed him more, offer him the other boob after hes finished the first but whenever he feeds for longer than 15 mins he always pukes up.

I know it's easy for me to say but I still wouldnt be concerned hun. :hugs: It's very early on. Have you read the Times article in the Weight Charts sticky?

It's also the same one in the 'Slow weight gainers thread' Toria has started :D

i would try not to worry hon, can take a couple of weeks or more for them to regain birth weight xx as long as he seems satisfied and has plenty of wet nappies xxx its really hard at the start i know, i remember the first time Freddie was weighed and he had lost 10% or something and i was heartbroken! but he soon started putting it on and from then on has always been a big boy xx have faith in the milk!!!!

I wouldn't worry too much. he's still young yet and as most babies drop in weight after birth they give them 14 days to get back up to birth weight. I know it's hard with breastfeeding because you can't see how much they are taking in but there are key things to look for such as alertness (as alert as a young baby will be) and wet nappies. The sickness calmed down for us as my daughter got older and her system and such like grew and was able to digest better. :hugs: you are both doing so well AG x

Daisy took 15 days to get back to BW - I really wouldn't worry, whcih is easier said than done I know!! x

Its so worrying isnt it.

I have breastfed Nathan since he was born and I honestly feel he has barely been off my boobs. When he first got weighed the Tuesday after he was born (he was born on the Friday) he had went from 8lb11.5oz down to 7lb 12.5oz which was over the 10% limit the mw/hospital give. I was so upset but by the next day he was up to 8lb and then 4 days later 8lb2.5oz.

I always thought they would eat until full?

But reading the stuff on slower weight gains and the growth charts has made me feel better.

Hope he starts to beef up soon for you. Have they recomended attending a bf group? My health centre runs a weekly drop in one...
